DNM coil shock
Great budget 210mm rear coil shock.£135 at time of purchaseHeavy compared to an air shock but to be expected.Overall pleased with purchase.Fits great in frameI was aware of the mount size before I ordered and hoped to use original hardware from a fox float air shock, sadly not compatible but a visit to TF tuned.com for custom shock mount hardware to suit my Lapierre spicy 316 and got a 12mm x 19mm x 6mm for front and 12mm x 25.2mm x 6mm for rear (£25 each)DIY e-bike conversion

Inexpensive and works great!
Really great rear shock for a DH MTB. The spring is 550lbs. The compression and rebound adjustments work great. The 240mm fits perfectly on my Yakuza Aniki. Just needed a slight shave off the bushings for the rear attachment point. Did that on a disc sander and it was ready to go.

Probably the best bang for you dollar
First impressions are really good with this shock. Impressive quality for the money. I have a 2010 GT Force Carbon Expert, and the original Fox RP23 finally completely blew out. I have a hard time justifying the cost and time to send the shock out for repair/rebuild. After lots of research for alternative shocks, I found someone who had mounted a different brand coil shock with positive results. Hard to know how well something might work on this suspension design especially given the stock shock has specific damping specs to work with the GT suspension design. This shock is the exact size spec of 190x51. You will need to shave down bushings and aluminum shafts to mount correctly, but no big deal. I was able to use the factory aluminum bushings at the swingarm after cutting down an aluminum tube to the correct length. With the factory air shock I always had a problem with too much sag, no matter how much air pressure within reason of course, and damping was just okay. With this coilover in place, it seems to be better suited for this setup. It feels tight and controlled, has a progressive feel which is good because the air shock would blow through it's stroke. I don't think you can find a better replacement for an older MTB at this price. I'll update once I get some saddle time on the trails. I also feel this will work better for my riding style...I like jumps, and airing out whenever possible. This shock is showing way more control than the stock Fox it replaced. If replacing a decent air shock, this coilover weighs considerably more, but I think it's performance will justify the weight panalty. I'll update when I have some good amount of saddle time with this shock. As a side note, I weight 165-170lbs, and the 550lb spring on this DNM is almost right on the money, if not right on the money, time will tell. The spring is also within fairly common sizing, so an aftermarket spring of your desired weight/liking shouldn't be an issue. Even if you need to buy a different spring to better suit your body weight, you'd still be in the $200 price range all in, which is a bargain! I might buy an aftermarket spring just for some weight savings, but honestly, I'm not too worried about it.
