Q: Is the "Thumb and finger valley" on both sides of the tool? For left handed users

I believe that the thumb and finger valley are on there own different side. But it shouldn't matter cause this tool works for either hand.

Q: Does the hinge have a spring (Self Opening)?

Yes it has a spring. Its behind the extended rubber thumb push off part of the handle. It works very well if you have to strip live wires.

Q: What makes these worth 12 dollars more than the visually identical 45-915 strippers?

Yea don't bother just get the ones that are 12 dollars cheaper. I need them because I'm an electrician so for me I need the number 6 gauge.
