It definitely sits flat. This is an industrial strength flipper you would use in a restaurant. If you're just going to be flipping pancakes and burgers in the kitchen I'd say get a lighter tool.

Not a good grill tool

Okay so I have had time to use this spatula at first glance very heavy looking almost to heavy. I did smash burgers on my black stone griddle used the spatula to smash and press down with and this tool likes to bend right at the handle not very sturdy or springy just very soft bendable metal kind of a disappointment. The spatula is good for flipping but it’s to heavy for anything else , having owned a restaurant I would not recommend this product.
