Another wonderful tasting tea from Taka Turmeric!
When it comes to turmeric tea, Taka Turmeric which is based in Cape Town, South Africa delivers.Where many countries go to India, Taka Turmeric found out that only a small percentage of Turmeric is organically and ethically grown and comes in different grades (similar to China’s Pu-erh teas) and the amount of curcumin (The active ingredient in turmeric) can vary. And so the company has learned to source the very best herbs and spices to create a a golden synergy of taste and health. For those not familiar with turmeric, it is great for anti-inflammatory, as an antioxidant, antibiotic, aids in metabolism and supports weight management, aids in arthritis, helps heals stomach, helps soothes coughs and asthma and more. The tea I am reviewing is Taka Turmeric’s Hibiscus Cinnamon and the tea is activated by crushed black peppercorns. The tea is made from the scarlet petals from a hibiscus flower and blended with woody cinnamon spice. Ingredients also include Turmeric, Ceylon Cinnamon, Grated Coconut, Liquorice, Orange Peel, Star Anise, Clove and Black Pepper. This is my second favorite of the Taka Turmeric offerings, with Masala Chai being my favorite. The Hibiscus Cinnamon comes mightily close as I absolutely love the taste. It has more of the cinnamon taste and a hint of spice. But if anything, I found this tea to be refreshing and flavorful and at under $7, that's a great deal. Also, Hibiscus supposedly helps prevents hypertension, lowers blood pressure, reduces blood sugar levels and keeps the liver healthy. It's important to note that there is no scientific evidence to support this but as a tea, I can tell you that I enjoy it and I recommend it!Each box comes with 15 unbleached tea bags and once again, under $7 for a box! So, the Taka Turmeric Hibiscus Cinnamon Tea is definitely worth it!

Great ingredients. No actual nutritional data.
On a daily basis I ingest turmeric, cinnamon, hibiscus, black pepper. To find these all within a tea bag is a nice discovery. Usually, I add a cinnamon stick to my coffee, and I add various healthy additions, like turmeric, beet root powder, unsweetened cocoa powder. Plus, I will often make hibiscus tea. So, I am familiar with these flavor profiles, as well as the possible health benefits. These tea bags are a very handy, convenient manner to process a healthy and tasty tea. Being individually packaged, they are easily transported, carried in briefcases, backpacks or handbags. Another plus to the form factor.Personally, I enjoyed the taste. I made a quick batch, in a 16 oz pyrex glass (to enable a good view of the color of the tea in the attached photos). I was surprised at the depth of the red color (hibiscus), because turmeric usually adds a strong earthy yellowish hue. The packaging states that 1g of turmeric per tea bag.I also appreciate that the ingredients are organic, and that the respective badges are displayed on the packaging. This tea is good hot or cold. I don't even add sweeteners, just enjoying the natural flavor of the hibiscus.Work of advice: consider using a straw to drink this tea. Hibiscus tea's red tint is very strong and could stain, and that means your teeth. Using a straw will allow most of the liquid to bypass your pearly whites. Also, rinsing after drinking hibiscus tea would help minimize any teeth staining. Also, making the tea weaker lessens the staining intensity.Right now, I have a batch of this tea cooling in the fridge. Nice drink to have cold during these hot summer days/nights.The only negative I found was the absence of nutritional data. So, there is no real information on specific quantities of hibiscus or cinnamon, nor any caloric info. The only data given is the 1g of organic Indian turmeric per bag.So, this specialized tea earns 4 stars, with a high level recommendation.

An interesting, tasty blend of stuff that's good for you, too
- I appreciated the allergy warning that hibiscus and peanuts are often grown together. I don't happen to be allergic to nuts, but I have a ton of other allergies and I wouldn't have had the slightest clue they were frequently grown together- I also appreciate the adherence to organic ingredients.- Another thing I appreciate is using real cinnamon (Ceylon) instead of the fake cassia stuff that somehow took hold in the USI take turmeric and cinnamon supplements daily. I make them myself and I mostly enjoy that, but the ability to have this tea instead of having to keep track of when I need to make more pills was a nice break.I've never had anything hibiscus before and I didn't expect it to be a major flavor note. I was wrong heh.Something like this that depends on individual taste is difficult to review. All I can say is that I like it and have put it on my Amz grocery list to buy in the future.I felt like the smell was mostly cinnamon and I can't even describe the taste, just that I like it.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many everyday things you buy will generate a small donation from Amazon to the charity of your choice.
