Revue on build quality.
Item arrived on time. The reason I have given 3 stars is that it was built and therefore not a kit,r so I expected it to be built properly! The control spindles were not aligned, all pointing in different directions so the only part which would be visible when built into a casing would look, bent, and extremely difficult to fit at except by drilling overlarge holes and cover them up with over sized washers!Luckily on test it worked, otherwise it would have been returned, so I proceeded to rework the offending items, including a capacitor not fully fitted and to crop over length component leads which were overlapping adjacent circuit tracks. Whilst this device is operating at audio frequencies, it is not good practice to install components in that way.

Excellent Sound
Ive tested the NE5532 on my scope and this is an amazingly flat op-ampIts flat from 5HZ right upto 64KHz which is amazing, these are tried and tested op-amps that were released in the 1970'sOn these preamp modules you need to remove the two small feedback capacitors on the PCB right next to the op-amp IC's, usually these are ceramic 330pF, this is a factory mistake and if you leave them in circuit the high frequencies will roll off at 12KHz, these op-amps are extremely efficient and do not need them.

Good value and versatile pre-amp
I took a chance and ordered this preamp, as I wanted to run it on an 18-0-18 split DC power supply being used for my main power amp. I found it quite straightforward by removing the small bridge rectifier and using it's soldering pads to fit two wire links to connect to the two 2200uF capacitors. As I already had a rectified and smoothed DC supply for my power amp, I replaced the two caps with 100uF 35V caps. This was necessary because the originals are rated at 25V which is too low for my power supply. The originals are good for a 15-0-15V supply, not 18V as specified.Otherwise, for the price, the PCB is OK except that the control pots are not soldered in a a straight line, as reported by a previous reviewer. This can be overcome by using a wide tipped soldering iron bit and heating the front three pins together and pulling the pots into line.
