Great DE razor blades for sensitive skin.
I received a 5 pack of the ASCO orange in a variety pack and they have become “the” go to blades in my lineup, along with Treet Durasharps in my Goodfellas Italico open comb razor. Razorock Nomad, WCS Pear-Brr Shoppe, Prorasso green, and Wholly Kaw cream soaps followed by Pinaud stiptic pencil, and Canadian Booster Polar Ice aftershave, sealed with Michael Strahan Calming Post Shave Balm all work to leave my face BBS. I have sensitive skin and these razor blades are the ones that my face loves the most. Zero irritation, and sufficiently sharp to remove all of my coarse stubble, or two week growth with two to three passes. I normally replace each blade after two shaves but, they are still plenty sharp at that point. The best way to find your perfect blade is to buy variety packs even if you wind up discarding the rest.

Super-secret black helicopter blades
Blades are very personal. What works for me might not work for you because your beard (or your legs) might be different, your skin might be different, your shaving style might be different, your shave cream, soap, or water might be different, or you might just be feelin' ornery. If you're familiar with the big-name blades, you might be thinking, "What's this ASCO stuff?".I'm very fond of these blades. They're produced under the Lord brand umbrella, and they have some of the admirable qualities one associates with Lord blades. They're from Egypt, which is a place where some very nice blades are made. Like Lords, they're quite sharp, but not TOO sharp, and this can be a good thing. Unlike some of the very sharp blades (say, Feather or Astra), you don't have to approach your face as if you are Michelangelo tackling the Sistine Chapel. You can simply have at it, and end up with a very good, smooth shave. They're very comfortable blades to shave with. All in all, ASCO is a good brand to try, once you get over your "I want to split atoms" phase of blade investigation. The blades come in yer basic unprepossessing fold-out display, containing 20 5-packs. Clearly printed blades and packaging that are obviously legit manufacturer's stuff (after all, who would clone ASCOs?). The 5-packs are not individually wrapped in plastic, so if you live in a deadly, corrosive, humid atmosphere, such as one might find on Venus or in Oregon, you might want to keep 'em bagged.

The best for safety razors
When I first got my safety razor, I had heard all about how different blades can give you completely different shaving experiences. I was recommended by multiple friends to get one of the "variety" packs that you can find here on amazon.I got myself a variety pack and created a rating system, where I'd score every one of my shaves from 1-5 (5 being the best). I tried to control for as many of the variables as possible (e.g., always shave after an evening shower, run the same routine every time, shave on 2 days of growth, etc.). I ran this rating scheme in two rounds: in the first round, I simply rated every blade from 1-5. After going through all 30 brands, I then took the top 10, and had a "finalists" round, in which I repeated the same process, but now with higher stakes. After all of this was said and done (and this took over 6 months to complete), ASCO razors came on top, blowing the other brands out of the water. They are definitely sharper than the standard razor but I personally found the shave to be smoothest. I just had to make sure I was careful around those more sensitive neck-areas.I've been using ASCO for the last 1.5 years now.tl;dr: did a review of 30 brands over 6 months in a controlled environment and found ASCO to be the best.

nice blades
Switched to double edge blades from disposable. I tried several brands and settled on the ascos, got 100 blades for about $15 compared to a bag of 25 disposables for about $40 at costco. I'm sure there are better blades but I'm satisfied with these.

Recent decline in quality or bad batch
Not sure what happened - these used to be great. Maybe I got a bad batch?!

Sharp enough to cut hair but not too much to irritate my skin.
These are great blades for my sensitive Caucasian skin. I’ve tried a bunch of blades and these are tied with Rapira Swedish Super Steels as my all-time favorites. I think these Asco are just a tad sharper than the Swedish Super Steels but no increased irritation despite being sharper. I also like Shark Super Steels to change things up and these Asco’s definitely seem a tad sharper to the Sharks from the same manufacturer (Lord Blades). Basically these Ascos are the sharpest blades that I can use without irritation. I pair these blades with an Edwin Jagger DE89.The whole reason I got into DE shaving was to minimize the awful irritation (burn, bumps, ingrown hairs) that I was getting with multi-blade disposables. My head hair grows in every direction and takes many passes to get as smooth as I like. These Ascos give me a very close shave with fewer passes than any other razors I have used and with no real irritation.

Curious about quality assurance measures.
Got five in a variety pack. One of the five razors tore my face up. The others were great. I just can't get over that one, and wouldn't risk it again.

Great inexpensive blade
I've been using these in my post-war Aristocrats and they give a fantastic comfortable shave. I don't get TONS of shaves out of them but at least a good 4-5 before I start thinking about changing them. At the price though this 100 pack should last me a long long time. They don't get as close as my Feathers but what does? These have supplanted Lord Cool's as my goto cheap blade. I'm going to buy another just to be sure I don't run out!
