WORKS RELIABLY
This thing works excellently. With grid power supply the blinker is brighter; deems a bit when system is using solar power. But it works reliably.

Peace of mind!
Update 10/19/2019: Still love this as much as ever, although I am not sure if my pony agrees because he just doesn't get out anymore. He might give it a lower rating than I do :) Interestingly I have noticed it normally flashes every few pulses, and if the fence is weak it flashes less frequently. I can only guess it must have a battery that charges until there's enough power to flash. I love that I can tell if the fence is weak so I can check for minor grounding issues. I really rely on it to tell me if the fence is working and it has not disappointed.------------Original review: I had a little trouble figuring out how to install this, but once I did, I love it. I placed it such that I can see the light flashing from my kitchen window. My barn is quite far from my house but I can still see the light easily even during the day. Now in high winds I know the fence is still working any time I look out the window.. no more going out to the barn in the middle of a storm to be sure nothing has fallen on the fence! Also we have the worst time remembering to plug the fence in after thunderstorms, and this gives us a visual indication that it's unplugged. When one of the fence clips broke and the wire grounded against the post, I knew right away there was a problem because the light stopped flashing. In the past it might have been days or longer before I realized the fence wasn't working. My pony used to be an escape artist, but he hasn't gotten out once since we installed this! Best concept ever and it works great.

Peace of mind…
Didn’t know how I would like it since it’s so small and hard to see in the sunlight, but it is very bright and visible in low light and at night at a distance. A little pricey but worth it for the peace of mind of knowing the fence is working properly. Will be buying more since we have a lot of electric fences and chargers for horses and cows. I can’t review how well it will hold up long term but I like the fact that there is no batteries and the grounding rod is how it gets its ‘juice’.

Works as described
Love my Gallagher Live Fence Indicator. Worked perfectly right out of the box and it gives me great comfort from inside my home to see that my electric fence is actually working and I can rest at night knowing our flock is protected against predators.

Does what it says it does...
Indicator works excellently. Can see easily from 100+ feet away. LED's are red and indicate every few seconds or when the fencer pulses. When you first hook it up give it several seconds before you think its not hooked up right. You can also attach while the fencer is on, just do not touch any metal parts of the ground rod or clip-on. People who claim they get shocked are careless. I would have given it 5 stars however, the clip on is a bit weak which is easily solved by adding a wire tie so it creates a strong connection and never blows off. Update: Had this for a couple of weeks and it just survived a severe thunderstorm with 60 MPH winds. Never came off (because of a wire tie I put on) and never failed to work. So glad I bought this, saves so much wasted time going out to check fencer. Thanks!

Ultra fast installation, less than 1 minute
I absolutely LOVE this indicator. I bought a few smaller (cheaper) ones a few years ago, and they were nice to have this little blinky dots around the field. But they wore out and this was my next iteration. So far most everything I've bought from Gallagher has been top notch and this product fits that bill. The easy installation was awesome, and the light itself is much brighter than the other very small ones I used to have.

durability questionable
ground lead quality very suspect; irreplaceable component where coating dry rots and fails requiring numerous- and creative - repairs to keep an expensive low voltage light alive … disappointing at best. tedious to keep this operational; will not purchase another.

Does the Job!
The media could not be loaded. As with most things, longevity will be the true 5th star of the review. Right out of the box this is a well made indicator with a nice cord length and a sizable ground probe. The spring clamping action is not flimsy, but firm and has on the inside a notch to allow for wire/rope (above it) and tape connections (below it) specifically which is a nice touch. When it clamps on, it holds on, creates no arcing that is visible or audible, and you will have to orient the wire somewhat to help the viewing angle of the light but it’s not a big deal. Now, ( for reference that fence it’s installed on uses an Intellishock 10 from Premier One. 10,500 DCV @ 1.0-1.3 Joules )… the beacon light is BRIGHT and pulses with the energizer. This light at night is easily visible at well over 100 yards away it will get your attention, especially if you are viewing straight on. From other angles that is diminished some but it still visible enough to accomplish its purpose, so it is best to position the LEDs to face the direction of likely foot traffic to get the most out of the flash.During the day, especially in open sunlight scenarios.. it is still visible straight on, but does not offer the same brightness intensity as seen at night and that ought to be expected. The beacon gets its power from the energy pulses on the line, so no batteries. If it is flashing, your fence is energized. If not, either the fence power is OFF, or there is LOW voltage, a fault/break issue. Overall, I am pleased with its performance so far, and should that change I will update this review. I see no reason to not recommend this to other users of electric fence.
