I have been learning Bengali for a year with Teach Yourself Bengali, some Youtube tutorials and a lot of Bengali films but the missing piece of the puzzle was a good dictionary. TYB recommends this volume and I was not disappointed. Every word I have needed to know was present here and information on word classes is provided, which is helpful in knowing the proper context of usage. This is essential for any learner of Bengali.

This book more than meets my expectations. As a student well past the language learning age, this is the tool that will help me to communicate with those around me as I live and work in India. I am grateful for all of the work that has gone into the production of this work.

To difficult to understand for beginner. Print much too small

Good for basic learning

This is a great dictionary, but it is so much more than that- the back as conjugations, commonly used verb lists, other useful word lists, and everything is in VERY clear print, unlike most Bengali resources. I really enjoyed the author's Phrasebook/Dictionary (http://www.amazon.com/Bengali-Bangla-Dictionary-Phrasebook-Edition/dp/0781812526/ref=pd_sim_b_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1AKXGTX1F8HCMPBMBVE3 ), but this is a pretty useful pocket dictionary if you are studying Bangla or traveling in Bengal.
