A Must-Have for Routine Edge Maintenance
The Naniwa Chosera #1000 is a high-quality sharpening stone, ideal for routine maintenance of edges that are not heavily worn. I typically use it in combination with a Naniwa Chosera #400 for repairing chipped edges, and a Chosera #3000 for final polishing. The Chosera #1000 has medium hardness compared to other stones, which I find ideal. What I particularly like is that it doesn’t clog easily and provides excellent feedback while sharpening. If you're in a hurry and need a quick, working edge, this stone is more than enough. In practice, its grit behaves more like #1500–1800, making it finer than what the nominal grit rating suggests compared to other brands. If you're planning to remove the base, as I did, I recommend using wooden or plastic wedges. Avoid using flathead screwdrivers, as they can chip the stone's edges. It would be great if Naniwa released a base-free version of the Chosera line, as many users prefer to use their own sharpening setups.

Comes well packed with a rubbing stone.
I have not used it yet, but the stone is well regarded by people who make a living sharpening knives.

Worth every penny
This line from Naniwa is legendary. I really recommend this stone.. It is hard so it'll last a very long time. Splash and go so less mess and no wait time before you sharpen. Comes with a dressing stone and has the base already. Buy it.

Middle of the Line
These are Middle of the Line bench stones but perform exceeding well in practice. I bought the set of three and except for my Spyderco Stones and my Shapton Glass Stones this set is actually all the hobbyist would need! They are easy to use (no soaking for minutes in the beginning) but splash a little water on them and you're good to go. I am quite happy to have them in my collection of bench stones.(I am going to write the same review for all three grits of this stone, and heartily suggest purchasing all three which will give you the full range that you need - I've rated each of the three the same).

You get what you paid for
Exceptionally smooth and high quality stone. I cheaped out on a Chinese double sided stone and it ruined all my edges. Japanese is the way to go. Splash and go but I put mine under running water for 20 seconds to be safe. Sharpened my HAP40 Bunka flawlessly (HAP40 is notoriously difficult to sharpen)

Razor sharp knives with this stone
I have been 'trying' to sharpen my knives for years. I thought I really was just terrible at it. I had purchased a few other products in the past that claim to sharpen but to no avail. I even own an electric diamond sharpener. I purchased this stone as a 'last attempt'. Wow, what a difference! This stone is amazing. The feedback you get from sharpening lets you that your stone is definitely getting sharper with every stroke. You do have to be patient and apply a good number of strokes. (I start with 30 each side). You can youtube "burrfection" for tutorials.Pros:You only have to wet the stone. No oils, no submerging.Great edge on every knife I own.Very fair price.Cons:You may want to get a better stand for it. Mine slips and slides a bit, but its mainly because there's water around it.Verdict:A great buy for the money. It also comes with the stone that helps 'shave off' your sharpening stone to keep it in great shape!
