Orchiata is a standalone orchid growing substrate that can be used directly from the bag for potting and re-potting orchids, produced from the finest quality, 100% pure New Zealand Pinus radiata bark. Pinus radiata is sourced from renewable, man-made forests ensuring availability into the future. New Zealand Pinus radiata is a hard and stable bark compared to other pine species; however, it needs to be processed from its raw state. Our unique natural process creates a high quality, stable, long lasting, toxin free, consistent growing substrate available in different sizes for your specific growing needs. Our process allows Orchiata to hold water and nutrients on the outside layer of each chip, as well as creating a slightly rough surface for roots to anchor to. Pathogens do not survive this process; however beneficial micro-organisms remain. Growers' have reported that frequent re-potting is not necessary, as potted plants have been known to remain in excellent condition in excess of 10 years. It is available in five convenient sizes: Ex Small (1/8" 4-6mm), Small (3/8" 6-9mm), Medium (1/2" 9-12mm), Large ¾" 12-18mm) and Ex Large (1" 18-25mm).

Good quality
The bark quality from this seller is pretty good. You can tell how good the quality is by looking at the dark color.

Amazing!! Love it!
I can't begin to express how wonderful this medium has been for my orchids! This company came to my orchid group and did a fancy presentation about how great their bark is, and I have to say they were absolutely right! It was time to repot quite a few or my orchids, and I thought I would try it. They had said you don't need to mix this with moss or anything else, and I was a bit skeptical, but my gosh I have some seriously happy orchids! I repotted different types such as my miltonia, phals, onicidiums, dendrobiums, you name it and they are ALL happy and growing so well! I am a believer and will ONLY be using this medium to repot my orchids!

Improvement
I'm happy with this media it fits my watering style better than sphagnum. May need to add in pearlite in the summer but so far so good. Minimal dust, I didn't see anywhere that soaking the media overnight was necessary but it may have helped

Nice bark! Not a lot of small pieces
Nice bark! Not a lot of small pieces, all pretty evenly sized. I sterilized with boiling water first, let cool, and used to repot a number of my orchids. Have not had any issues to date with it - in fact, I ordered another bag to repot the remaining balance of my orchids.

Orchiata....I like it!!!
I like this orchid bark. It looks durable and seems like it will last a long time. I mixed it with leca and charcoal.

My orchids do very well in Orchiata and I only repot about every two years.
This is the best orchid potting medium, won’t use anything else.
