As a recent convert to Bullet Journalling, I don’t have much experience in choosing notebooks to fulfil the purpose, but what I do have is lots of time, an obsessive approach to learning, and the Bullet Journal Method book and audiobook, which I’ve listened to several times. I discovered that you don’t need to be a professional BuJo notebook buyer, because the marvellous thing about BuJo is that you just need a decent quality notebook with 5mm dotted pages - which you tailor to your own particular needs. There is a method and there are guidelines, but it’s no strict ‘do as I say’ method, it’s creative, and flexible and versatile.I’ve tried a few books from the major players in the market, and they’ve all been good, but I wanted a notebook I could really get attached to, if I’m going to adopt the system fully as an ongoing part of my life.I’ve been learning how to draw in recent months, and during that time have got quite into black paper/card for its novel look - I love the way a good neon gel pen comes to life on a black page… and don’t get me started on how brilliant they look under UV! So when I saw that this particular Bullet Journal notebook has black dotted pages, I thought I’d have a bit of that action! And I’m so glad I did…From the very first moment I got my hands of this Starry Night version of the STM dotted BuJo notebooks, I knew I was really going to be a pretty special experience. Top quality 160gsm premium, no-bleed paper in a marvellous, soft-feel, vegan leather hardcover. Index pages so you know what’s where; two bookmarks, because nobody only needs to have one page in easy reach; a big pocket in the back cover for keeping loose items, a pen loop, even an elasticated closure so you can keep the book shut when you’re not using it - this notebook has everything you need for premium Bullet Journal results, and more. It’s been very well thought out, it looks great and functions great. And they give you a top class, white Gelly Roll gel pen for free to put in the pen loop and to use in it, just for buying the notebook, blooming marvellous! Oh, and it comes in two sizes - A5, and the considerably bigger B5 - both are equally impressive. I use the A5 as my portable/travel BuJo, and the B5 as my ‘Mighty Tome’ in my dojo (flat!).And it goes without saying that the black pages look mind-blowingly awesome if you write in them with neon gel pens - which Amazon sell loads of, so you’ve no excuse! Heck, I’m so impressed with this notebook, I’ve already invested scores of hours filling it with plans, projects, goals and even art - I’m on a diet too, so I have pages for tracking my weight loss and caloric intake. And my diabetes tracking and that of my other health conditions just hit another level as well! BuJo is such a versatile and creative system, it lets you take your life to the next level, whatever you enjoy, whatever you need to understand better, and whatever you do for work and fun.I’ve already bought 2 more of this edition of the Bullet Journal, to make sure I’m ready for when I’ve filled this first book, and to be 100% sure that I can get my hands on them down the road, even if STM stop doing them. So taken am I with BuJo, and especially with this notebook, that I’ve even invested in the STM Pouch, a case for the notebook that means you can journal anywhere you have room to open it, and lets you keep all your BuJo equipment together in one place. As a result, I am pretty much inseparable from this notebook at this stage! I wish I could show you a fully populated page, and how the neon gel pens make the text stand out in a whole new way, but everything I’ve written so far is private, so you’ll have to make do with just my text review!As the great Al Murray might have said had he owned one, this is ‘A brilliant British Bullet Journal book, for brilliant British people’! It’s a top-end, premium, thick paper, highly featured notebook, that gives you a real premium BuJo experience. It’s worth the investment, I’ve not even looked at my other BuJo notebooks since I got my hands on this beauty.If I had to think of a negative, I’d struggle… the only thing I can think of is that you need a reasonable amount of light to be able to see the dots on the page, as they are very discrete so as not to be distracting. But I’m splitting hairs there, as I’ve not had a problem with it, whether outdoors in a field, or in my dojo using a desk lamp.As you can probably tell, I think these notebooks are the bees knees, and enjoy using them very much. If you’ve never tried a notebook with black pages before, this is your chance. You won’t look back, white paper will forever just be an inferior write after this notebook. I bought a Scribbles that Matter journal last year and was very happy with the quality of it. However there were definitely a few areas where I felt it could be improved and saw from the other customer feedback that I wasn't the only one. Well, this year I bought another journal and they seem to have fixed every single thing that could have been improved upon!Yes, the journal still has the great, thick pages with minimal bleed-through, but now there are about 12 more of them which was my biggest problem with the previous journal I bought from them. There was just no way I could fit a whole year of bullet-journaling into just 201 pages. Now there are 213 and that is just enough to make a whole year fit. Plus, their Iconic version used to have even less pages than their plain cover journal but now they are the same - allowing us to have a real choice as to whether to go for the plain or scribbled cover as our year-long journal.The other improvements are:Smaller margins which give slightly more dots per page.The centre dot on each page is printed slightly differently to give a great indicator of the absolute centre to make it easier to make layouts.The dots are now slightly fainter making them blend into the background easier when you don't need them.There are dots for guidelines now on the Pen Test pages too, to make it easier to write in a straight line.The first page is now not gummed so lies flush to the front cover and flat when fully opened (as before it would stand straight up).All these improvements added to the original pros (comes with its own pen loop, nice thick pages, index pages, pen test pages, good choice of colours, numbered pages, nice thick sturdy PU fake-leather cover, etc) make this an even more attractive addition to the bullet journaling choices out there and in my opinion justifies the slightly dearer price tag.Having bought Lemones, and Leuchteurns in the past, this is now my journal of choice.(Customer service is also fantastic. I had a slight issue with my journal and had to contact Scribble that Matter about it. They went above and beyond to help me feel satisfied with my purchase and couldn't do enough for me).

I have been looking around for my next bullet journal for several weeks looking for a better quality of paper than my Leuchtturm1917 as my main requirement. I have had my eye on STM journals for a while and finally bought mine last month. I am very pleased with the quality of the paper : no bleeding, no ghosting and the colors are looking so much prettier than on my Leuchtturm. The cover feels smooth to the touch, its color is absolutely stunning and the icons are the cutest. The first few pages contain some essentials for bullet journal : a space for your name, a key for 15 symbols & 8 colors and 3 pages for the index. At the end of the journal, you will find a pocket as well as a pen test page and another dedicated to mindfulness. I already have more STM journals on my wishlist, awaiting to be bought...If you know anyone journaling, this journal comes into the cutest slipcase which makes it a great gift.

I love my journal so much. Its changed me into someone who actually remembers abd gets things done. I chose to paint the actual cover and varnish it so my example looks pretty different from the original.Pages are think and most pens dont bleed through. It even has a test page near the back. Big pocket for your important supplies, its always neat and tidy and comes with a protective cover.My only complaint is the pen that i received ran dry pretty much a week into owning the journal, but overall i would highly recommend!
