Audio loud and clear.
Very loud and clear audio from this speaker. I saw a few reviews that said it was not loud enough but I gave it a try anyway. It definitely depends on the amplifier you are using, in my case I'm using the Simrad RS35 radio that has included hailer, siren tones, fog horn and public address (PA) with transmit and microphone through the speaker receive function. My boat is a center console and my previous radio the standard horizon did not have the same power output so when I changed the radio and speaker now I'm getting speaker feedback through the microphone because I installed the speaker under the canopy. I'll have to sacrifice the protection the canopy offers and change the speaker to the top and slightly point the speaker so that I don't get any audio reflection back to the microphone. There are other reviews that talk about the speaker wire gauge being too small for long runs to the radio. As an engineer I can tell you that this will hardly be a problem as long as you wire your a long run according to the length. A 50 foot or less length will do fine with 16 gauge speaker wire. Over 50 foot a 14 or 12 gauge would be appropriate to minimize voltage loss. If you are using this speaker in marine environments use marine speaker wire and marine grade shrink crimp connectors. Also use the appropriate crimp tool and heat gun or you will leave a hole in the crimp connector that will corrode later on. My speaker did not come with the positive or negative cable wire marked but the convention is that the speaker wire with the stripe is the negative. After trying the audio the speaker sounded correctly without any distortion with this polarity.

Good Quality Speaker and Reciever
It does have good sound quality. However, not as loud as I expected.

Replacement for an original horn/speaker.
Bought this to replace a 20 year old horn/speaker on my Nordhavn 50 ft. Trawler. It fits exactly into the same footprint of the old one. Very happy with the results. The price was much lower than going to the local marine supply store too.

Great Haler for any boat.
Our existing haler crumbled and fell apart after 15 years and this one did the trick for a replacement. It is very sturdy, easy to install and the price was right.

Works, but...
Not overly impressed with Standard Horizon's thought process when it comes to wiring. The short length of wire that comes with the speaker is very small gauge (18 gauge?). Given that on a boat you will likely mount the hailer a good distance from the radio that gauge seems like a poor choice to me. Very little, as in nothing, is provided for mounting hardware
