Attractive, solid construction, fits toilet well, and is stable. The seat is soft and very comfortable. The seat is noisy when lowered, the lid is quiet when lowered, but that's not a concern. We wanted a soft toilet seat and that's what we got. We are very pleased with the product.

Updated review:After three years, the minor manufacturing defect/ripple on the seat surface turned into a tear; I should have gotten a replacement while the seat was under the one-year warranty; the manufacturer, Bemis, won't help me now). The price increase is astounding: I paid $21, and now it's $35! Good grief.I will say that Bemis customer service is friendly, professional, and helpful. They once sent me replacement parts for free. I'm glad to support a US company but sad that things generally aren't made better these days and that inflation has risen so steeply in the last year.Bemis told me they have new versions of their toilet seats with better hardware that keeps them more tightly in place. The newer one of this model has 15 instead of 13 in the model number and costs slightly less. I never had an issue with seat instability, and I have one of their "wood" seats as well. They might instead focus on other quality issues concerning press-board, plastic, and quality control of seams.------------------Original review:I bought the this in April and it's now October. Mine is white. The vinyl has not discolored (as many others have mentioned) or torn (which some have mentioned). In one place, the vinyl on my seat was sewn just a tad askew and has a very slight ripple, but this is a very minor cosmetic thing that's not noticeable while sitting. So, for the price, this was a great deal. The quality is definitely above average, and I'm happy with this toilet seat because it's very comfortable and easy to keep clean. (I don't use chemical cleansers, though, which might cause discoloration among other unwanted effects).Bemis created the Mayfair brand to sell its own soft seats. Bemis designs AND manufactures its products in the U.S. I live in the U.S. and I try to buy U.S.-made products whenever possible (to cut down on unnecessary global shipping (and carbon emissions, which are way out of control).A Bemis innovation is the attachment hardware that lets you conveniently detach the seat just behind the sturdy hinges. Therefore, you can more easily give the toilet a thorough cleaning. This is my second Bemis toilet seat. I also have a wood one that's painted. I've had to repaint it, but other than that have had no issues, and I've had that one over 10 years. Also, Bemis customer service is very good. I lost one of the seat bumpers on my other Bemis toilet seat and they sent a new one at no charge.

For those of you that have used soft toilet seats before, you don't need to hear why they're awesome. For those of you that haven't or don't:FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR BUM GET THIS ONE, OKAY? OKAY.First off--price can't be beat for the lifespan. I'm on my second one in, like, four years? But here's the thing, soft- and hard-seat users alike: this is a *quality* cushion for your butt.Seriously.Okay, so: you use a toilet often, right? (If not please see your doc.) It's not just the fact that you're there to do a job and get on with your life. Sitting funky (or for, er, longer periods) does a number on more than your butt--your legs, back and spine, hips...etcetera. Treat yourself right, but treat yourself SMART.Enter this particular Mayfair bum-cushion.It's supportive. It's got a wood core. You ever get a dollar-store soft seat? What even? Do you *like* falling in? Does it wake you up in the morning? (Okay, they're not all that bad, but believe me, once you've tried this one...) This one supports your body, not just your bum, and helps you do what you came to do. The wood core isn't hard to your behind; the cushioning is robust yet comfortable, and doesn't flatten out for me. I eventually replaced the first because a tear appeared in the cover--after two years of very regular use. That's pretty damned good for a toilet seat, y'all.The covering material is also sturdy and easy to clean. It's comfy, it's not balls-cold in winter, and you don't skid around.Oh, and the installation! It's a freaking joy, man. Taking the seat off for whatever reason is cake, popping it back on is the same. It plays nice with a self-install bidet without needing extra feet or padding (don't knock a bidet until you've tried it, dude, so FRESH) and that wood core is just tough as beans.Are you still with me? Have purchased other soft seats for my guest bathroom and they were so cheaply made, however this one is very sturdy and easy to clean. Seems it will outlast the others I've purchased.
