Ion, photo slide and film scanner. VERY IMPRESSED.
I'm Simply wowed by this, but I think Ion need to update the specs, even on the box it states 5.1mp, but they don't tell you that it is also capable of scanning to 10mp. (it does in the manual though) which is very nice, in these days of PDF's its very nice to get a paper manual to read.....Its easy to use, it comes with a 2gb Sd card in the box, it has 3 photographic plates, and slide and negative attachments.scanning is very simple, just put it in capture mode, press scan and then enter to save, you can even change exposure value in half stop values from +2 to -2.ONE THING, I would sugest when scanning photos putting a thick piece of card behind the photo as the scanner has a very bright lampDid I say I love this scannner? oh no I didn't I said I was wowed, but I never mentione love... hey I guess I have now.... very nice piece of kit, which should help me keep some memories alive. (and get rid of all my old films)Another thing is even in 10mp scanning mode the scanner only produces scanned images at 1.5mb they should be about 3x larger than that... (my pentax dslr, produces 10mp images that are around 5mb in size) so I'm guessing the unit has a very high compression rate, and some photos will need cleaning up with photoshop or another software program, this in no way (the needing to clean up) detracts from the Units value.... as I believe most people will want to clean their images before they show them.thank you Ion, I like your stuff...

Perfect, easy to use, Highly recommend.
No complaints at all. Easy to use, and have already used it to digitize hundreds of old, old photos. While some complained about needing more frame sizes, I overcame that easily, when I had pictures smaller than the frame by inserting blank photo paper just so it is at the top of the photo to reach to the top of frame, and that holds the picture without falling down and inside the unit.I did have one picture drop inside the unit, and had no problem getting it out. I just inserted a small piece of wood to hold the flap open where the frame is inserted.than turned unit upside down and the picture inside came to the slot, where I used some tweezers to pull it out, with no damage. As far as resolutions, I have no complaint, and being able to adjust darkness or lighten, plus red, green and blue hues is quite handy. I save them on a SD card in unit and will transfer to computer to categorize, that permanently store them on a 128 gb flash drive.I am happy and highly recommend this ION Pics 2 SD Slide and Film Scanner.

Easy to use, worked as advertised
I bought the Ion PICS2SD scanner to convert slides and photos I inherited from my parents (they took a LOT of photos over the course of 64 years of marriage). In order to share them with my siblings, my parents' family members...digitizing is the only way to go. This device seemed like the best way to go, and I started using it the day I got it. The scans were clear, sharp and it was really simple to make them. I figured out how to load the slides in the tray without even using the instructions, it was so simple to use (and if I can do that, anyone can!). I scanned an entire slide carousel in about an hour, and uploaded it to my PC. It was pictures that my dad had kept from my brother's camera, and my brother had thought them lost. I got to make a gift of them, returning precious memories. What could be better? This scanner is easy to use, and everything in the description up front before I purchased was accurate.

Product worked great at first
Product worked great at first, however, there is a tendency for a halo to appear on some pictures and a variance in the light exposure from the center of the picture to the sides of the frame. This image is the same on all frames duplicated with the scanner. UPDATE: After inquiring several times, I received a second scanner at no charge from the company. This process took over a month and I emailed four times before I received it. The second scanner has the exact same issue as the first. I'm guessing this is a design flaw the company may be aware of. In reading other reviews, I can verify it is much worse on glossy prints. Unfortunately, about half of what I needed to scan is on glossy paper. I'm very disappointed in the product. I have sent an additional inquiry to the manufacturer.

This is pretty easy to use and easy to hook up to ...
This is pretty easy to use and easy to hook up to my PC. It hooks up to my PC via USB cord and gets its power that way (you can also use the AC adaptor it comes with). When you want to transfer the pictures to the PC you set it to transfer mode and just like a USB memory stick you can open it in Windows and copy and paste the files. You can also delete them from the PC as well which is much easier than deleting them through the software on the unit. I am using it to scan old family slides to digital. I'm sure there are better quality and more efficient products but for the price this has been really great. I can get about 100 slides scanned (1 reel) and watch an hour long show at the same time. I could probably scan twice as fast if I weren't watching TV but that would be more like a job and less relaxing.
