Works well if directions are regarded.
I believe that it is important to be able to read the outdoor temperature before planning your outdoor activity. Very nice feature shown as well as time.

A Great Product
I have to say that it is great to know exactly what time it is without having to go online or on your smartphone. I particularly like the indoor/outdoor temperature. It is a very useful feature to have. I have had to change the battery at least once so far. Not really an issue. The setting buttons can be temperamental and not intuitive but I guess that is what the instructions are for. A great non-intrusive tool to have.

There is good and not so good
Good: Setup was indeed easy. The time numerals are large. Having both indoor and outdoor temps somewhat nice, and when I tested how close the temperature sensors agreed (the internal and external unit) they matched (I have had some remote temp units be off by up to 3 degrees). Units were tested by keeping remote right next to clock and comparing temp readings (they should be the same). Found unit easy to prop on table and to hang. Has so far managed to keep synced with time signal. Takes 3 cells to run, not sure how long they will last. The not so good: LCD background a bit dark, making digits and text hard to see even in a well-lit area (poor contrast). Also the temp and date characters are a bit thin and not easy to make out unless I'm relatively close to the display. Rather heavy black frame can make it look imposing and may contribute to the "darkness" feeling of the display. I like black accents but would have liked to have had lighter frame color options.Biggest gripe is the lack of a seconds display so in a manner of speaking the time readout can be almost a full minute off which makes it hard to set my other watches and clocks to this one. This may not be an issue to some, but there are situations where on the dot time is pretty much required (just ask my bus driver who is held to an exacting schedule, or one of my former jobs where we could be docked for being 1/100 of an hour off [made it easier for timekeepers to deal with than 1/60...] or in other words being 59 seconds off was NOT good enough for Government work).Summary: Does the job pretty well despite limitations. The price was fair (but shop around), and was the best of the limited options I could find both on line and in stores. Being a known name brand I'm expecting it to hold up well. Would feel okay giving as a gift. I'd give it an overall grade of "B" at this time. Time will tell (pun intended).

Simple and to the point
I received this for a Christmas gift and I like it so much, I bought one for my parents. They also love this clock and ditched their old clock for this one. What I like about this is that it has just the information I want - time, date and temperature indoor and outdoor in easy to read format. The temperature can be displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius. While I can find out the outdoor temperature using Alexa or internet, I want to know what the outdoor temperature in my backyard is right before I step out. I also use it to find out if our heater is working properly around the house. When the displayed temperature is different from the weather forecast temperature, I grin and am glad that I know the exact temperature in my backyard. It gives me satisfaction to know the temperature inside and outside the house at a glance.I'm loving this clock so much that I'm thinking of purchasing another one to put it in a different room around the house.

Not looking too good on the first day. Will update review soon.
I wanted to upgrade our LaCrosse unit to something a little larger, and easier to read at a distance. From the online dimensions, this Sharp unit seemed to fit the bill. Then amazon delivered it to my home and ...The first thing I noticed is that it was packaged for a supermarket shelf - without any protection against being thrown around by UPS. That is, the package leaves the large LED display face completely exposed to impact. There are a couple of adhesive pieces over the display to prevent scratches, but that's it. The cardboard packaging only protects the back and sides of the unit. There is no cardboard cover over the actual display - it is wide open. Looks pretty, but useless for protecting the item during shipping. So if something sharp pokes through the front of the thin delivery envelope, this display will be toast!Thankfully, mine arrived in what appeared to be good condition, but then a second roadblock appeared. I put batteries in the transmitter, and that went OK - it has a blinking red LED to show that it's working, and that lights up every once in a while, just like a smoke alarm. But, the main display unit was dead. I must have put the batteries (good ones!) into the main display ten times or more. Nothing. Completely blank. Pressed the RESET button on the back several times. Still, nothing. Then, after taking out the batteries and putting them back in one more time, it finally lit up! But I noticed that once I moved the unit somewhat abruptly, while mouting it on the wall, the entire display went blank again! Then after a little while, it lit up. So I very CAREFULLY set it against the wall, and it stayed on. Much too sensitive to movement, in my opinion. I kind of wonder if something is loose inside. No rattling, but it will reset or go blank with the slightest amount of jiggling. Now, after all that, the time and temperature are displayed. I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if the time receiver is working (starts after ten minutes of being turned on, and then again at 1 am, etc.). But, now comes the final hurdle. And most disappointing of all - the master display is dim - very low contrast! Noticably less contrast than the LaCrosse unit. For example, this Sharp unit has black digits against a dark grey background, while the Lacrosse unit has black digits against a bright silver background. So, even though it is about 25% smaller, the LaCrosse unit is MUCH easier to read in low light conditions.I'm leaving it up for now, to see if my wife can even read it across the room. I can't, but perhaps she can. We'll see - and then I'll update this review. In closing, I'd say that if you don't mount the Sharp display in a brighly lit room, you won't be able to read it unless you are within five feet of the display. If you are farther away than that, and it's twilight, forget about it!
