Is It Football Season Yet?
I'm a big fan of sports romances, particularly ones about football (in case you can't tell, I'm VERY excited for football season to start!), and I recently came upon Lauren Landish's newer releases. I had never read anything by her before and read Over the Middle first, not knowing that Blitzed technically comes before that one. As soon as I finished Over the Middle, which by the way I loved, I immediately started Blitzed because I loved the characters, romance, and talk about football. It's very rare for me to right away read another book by the same author in the same series or with the same characters because I have so many books to read and I like to give other new (to me) authors a chance as well. Again, football season cannot start soon enough and I'm chomping at the bit to get in the football zone!Troy Wood is Silver Lake Falls' senior superstar football player. who is both a quarterback and linebacker for his high school team. He is talented on the field and quite a catch with the girls. Troy has a very rough home life but he tries not to let that interfere with his goals of playing college football and finally, the NFL. He is watching the cheerleader tryouts with the rest of his teammates when his eyes land on Whitney Nelson, a junior who previously was somewhat of a wallflower and now has grown into her body, which has all of the guys' eyes bugging out. Troy basically holds court at their school so when he tells the rest of the guys to back off because he wants her, hardly anyone argues with him. Whitney can hardly believe that Troy is interested in her but she ends up falling for him and gets pregnant with his baby, deciding to keep everything a secret from him so he can fulfill his dreams. After having read both Over the Middle and Blitzed, I am now a fan of Lauren Landish's books and will read other books written by her. I didn't know that technically Blitzed is the first book in the "series" since I am new to her books. I already knew a bit of what was going to happen with Troy and Whitney since they appear at the end of Over the Middle but it didn't really bother me much. If you prefer to have absolutely no spoilers, I'd definitely read Blitzed before Over the Middle. I liked how almost the first half of Blitzed is about Troy and Whitney during high school so we get a good amount of character development and the rest of the book is them five years later, dealing with everything that happened between them in the past. Just like Over the Middle, I'd say Blitzed contains about 50% romance and 50% football, which made me incredibly happy! The author definitely knows football and I feel I can appreciate a book even more when the author knows about what she is talking. If you enjoy sports romances, particularly ones about football, I'd recommend Blitzed. It is a fairly quick and entertaining read that will make your heart melt and get you even more excited for football season!

Sacrifices, Lessons and Choices
How big of a sacrifice would you be willing to make for the one you love? Whitney and Troy are high school seniors. Both have problems to overcome, both are drawn to each other, both fall in love with each other. Troy's dad is an abusive alcoholic. Troy's only way out is through a football scholarship. He's being scouted by top colleges... all seems to be going to plan. But plans have a funny way of falling through. Whitney gets pregnant. Thinking the baby will ruin Troy's 'escape' from his dad and will keep him stuck in a factory type job in their small hometown, she decides to keep the baby a secret. She moves to Europe to be with friends without telling Troy WHY sh'e walking away from THEM. Troy is heartbroken and throws everything he has into his football career.Leap five years forward ..... Whitney comes home, back to the States, with their young daughter.... Troy's daughter that he knows nothing about. But she's not alone. She's with a friend and business partner who wants to marry her but Whitney never has forgotten Troy. She's followed his football career, watched his games on TV and has their little girl a football fan too. So when they go to one of Troy's NFL games, the daughter finds her way toward the locker room, wanting an autograph for her mama. Herein the real game starts. Will Whitney, Troy and daughter finally get to be a family? The love is there but there still are major roadblocks. This was an enjoyable read..... a storyline that reveals how many people suffer from the choices we make.... even the innocent bystanders. The key is to learn by our choices, our mistakes. And there is a lot of learning in this book.

First love overcomes all!
Whitney is a senior in high school when she attracts the attention of Troy the star quarterback. They start dating and Whitney learns that there is a lot more to Troy than she first thought and they fall in love. Troy’s father is an abusive alcoholic and the situation erupts at the same time that Whitney finds out that she is pregnant. Troy has a full scholarship to college out of state which could lead to a NFL career and Whitney knows that if she tells Troy about the baby that he will not attend college so that he can support the baby so she leaves town to secure his future. Five years later she returns and Troy is back as well and they realize that their feelings have not changed. Troy is now in the NFL however is their love strong enough for Whitney to give up her plans for the future when there is a change in Troy’s career or will they go their separate ways? The secondary characters especially their friend Dani and Troy’s high school coach were amazing.

Enjoyed
This was a much better book than the last few I have read. I will definitely read more by this author. While I liked Troy and Whitney, I found their characters frustrating at times. I was okay with Whitney up until she agreed to bring Lorenzo back with her. Anyone could see what a bad idea that was before it even happened. And Troy, he forgave her way too quickly. That was not even close to being realistic. Unless I'm reading fantasy or science fiction, I expect a little bit of realism. Otherwise I thought this was a good story. My favorite character ended up being Troy's coach. He was so good for Troy and such a great mentor. I'm glad he was part of this book.

A great first love and second chance story
A secret pregnancy, sports romance! Yep, check!Great story about first love and second chances, great friendships and family. We meet Whitney and Troy as they start their final year at High School. With Whitney, filling out and growing up over the summer, now has all the boys at school, suddenly very interested in her.Troy, is the top dog of the football team, also notices her, buts its much deeper that a quick fumble. As they get to know each other they have a deep respect for each other, and they both come over as more mature than their 18 years.Whitney's decision to go off, after she learns of the pregnancy was the wrong choice, but only she could make the decision. I am sure that Troy would of, if given the chance, stepped up to his responsibilities and I don;t think in the way Whitney thought he might have.He did however use there 5 years to improve and hone his skills on the football field, earning him much respect from his peers.I thought that Coach Jackson was very honorable stepping up when Troy needed him, and kept him moving forward. When Whitney returned, I hopes she got to get her HEA, with one rumbunctious daughter and a jealous friend,I thought she was going to become a cropper! but not without some hurt did both Troy and Whitney get on the same page.I thought Troy was a very admirable young man, and as soon as he learnt the truth about his daughter he truly accepted his responsibilities and made a huge impact of the very sweet little girl.I loved that both Troy and Whitney 'owned' their errors and mistakes again proving they were both mature for their ages.

BEAUTIFUL
What a beautiful coming of age love story, between Whitney Nelson & Troy Wood. I could've whacked her/ thrown ice cold water over her to wake her up from what she was doing. she might've thought she was helping Troy with running far away to Italy after she finds out things will change both their lives for ever & Tory had his chance to become a massive football player. What love must Troy have after forgiving and falling back in love with Whitney, well both their love for each other had never ceased, it's always been there & it will never cease I don't think & the strength it is can carry on with the 5 yrs apart & then when he has to move away for good career & instead of running this time she ignores him. *shaking my head*

Good free romance
I downloaded a bunch of free Kindle books and this was high up the list on the free section. It is not the type of book I would usually read but I had read a lot of depressing thrillers lately that I thought this would be a nice change. I enjoyed the story and rooted for all the characters. It was well paced and had good twists and had a strong ending. I would not pay for another but this is a good free romance novel if you are looking for one.

Don't bother!!!!
I read reviews on how great this book was. I can honestly say "did I read the same book"Spoiler - which I rarely giveHow can you suddenly discover you are a father after 5 years announce you love them and everything is great. The man who has been there for 5 years as a father figure/ boyfriend then just gets on a plane and goes awayI've read better fairy tales. You only get 48% as the rest is another book which I didn't even bother with.

Torn.
The story line had merit, but wasn't the best. Troy, well what a great character he was. To come from his background and become the man he was. As for Whitney, I could totally see her reasoning for leaving, but to then dismiss him so quickly and easily, without option of contact with his daughter, after just letting him connect was really hard to understand. So it confused me that Troy let this go so easily.
