Great for When You Have a Bad Cough!
Honey has been used to treat coughs since forever and I must say that I recovered much more quickly from a recent illness by putting Manuka honey in my tea a few times a day. I also ate some of the raw honey off a spoon. Laurie Lacey explains how manuka honey is great for fighting antibiotic resistant super bugs. Who knew that honey was also a good source of vitamin C which my doctor told me is good for coughs.Laurie Lacey has a deep knowledge of honey in general and manuka honey in particular. HIs writing style is also gentle yet informative as well as enlightening and calming. You will feel that you are in the care of an expert who knows all about natural remedies. This book also discusses the "Unique Manuka Factor" and what a rating means so you know what you are doing when buying a Manuka honey. This type of honey is fairly expensive. I've been buying it for $20 a bottle.Bees in New Zealand are sure working really hard to help the sick heal faster. It is good to know that manuka honey works well even when heated in a tea.So lots of information in this book was useful to me and I will continue to buy manuka honey.~The Rebecca Review

What an information packed little book :)
Being an NZ resident I picked this book up because the use of the word "Manuka" caught my eye - for those of you who are not familiar with this side of the world the Manuka plant/tree is native to New Zealand and various parts of the tree have been used for centuries by the Maori's for its healing properties. Before reading this book I was totally unaware of the fact that the Manuka honey has similar healing properties.I loved the idea of this series of books - based on the nature connection. I have always believed that it is plants and natural products that have better healing potential than chemicals mixed in a lab. What I was suprised to learn from this book was the number of different ways the Manuka honey can heal both internally and externally. I had heard stories from my own whanau about the use of Manuka honey on chainsaw cuts (most forestry operations are miles from any medical centre) but I had never thought of its ability to help heal internal issues as well, especially in our digestive tract. If you prefer natural remedies to prescriptions then I strongly recommend you buy this book. The author has taken the time to thoroughly research the topic and provides the reader with a number of different ways that this one little natural substance can help with your health.Lisa OliverAuthor of 30 Days to Lowering Your Cholesterol Naturally

A honey of a book
I'm certainly glad to have discovered this book, and this author. Laurie Lacey writes with authority on subjects of natural healing in the traditional ways. And he writes with authority on the subject of honey.Honey is not only one of the world's most perfect foods (loaded with nutrients!), it has all sorts of medicinal qualities which Lacey describes in considerable detail. ALL honey has these qualities, and I believe all humans should be aware of these healing properties of honey. After all, it can come in handy to know that natural raw (unpasturized) honey is antibacterial, for example. In addition, Lacey introduces us to Manuka honey made from several species of Manuka (Leptospermum) found in New Zealand and Australia. The honey from these plants has been found to be effective against superbugs -- MRSA, for example, and has shown itself to be useful for a number of other health problems, possibly even tumors. Well worth knowing about, this New Zealand honey, along with the properties and uses for common honey. And you can hardly find a better teacher on the subject than Lacey.Highly recommended.

I did not know that!
I have long known about the wonderful healing powers of honey. I also have known that honey from different regions have different properties because of the plants in the specific region. What I did not know is the specific special ingredients that the "Manuka" honey has. I would have liked to have a list at the end of the book with the best places to order high quality Manuka honey. This book has taught me something new, which is good.

Short and Sweet
Simply explained overview of the (many, and proven) medicinal benefits of New Zealand Manuka honey. Also gives references to professional literature that backs up what is stated. Not your typical Kindle natural health booklet but several steps above the mark of it's genre cohort. I was most pleasantly surprised! Even though I am personally familiar with Manuka honey, I still learned quite a lot from this short, concise book.

Good background info on what honey can or has been used for. Provided in depth info on the different strength of Manuka and uses for each which I liked. Suggested uses for Manuka, apply topically for wound healing of ingested to heal stomach problems. Read this book/leaflet in 15mins. Mentioned Manuka natural source of hydrogen peroxide but did not elaborate. You could find most or all info on the web.

Useful info on Manuka Honey
I had heard of the benefits of Manuka Honey, & it was good to find about all the different strengths of the stuff. When I had seen the honey in the shops, I was flabbergasted at the difference in the price of the different numbered jars - now I understand.
