The most comprehensive compilation of breakfast dishes around the world
It is hard to comprehend the amount of work that went into creating this true breakfast bible. 400 recipes from around the world with detailed explanations, precise measurement conversions and cultural lessons. The fascinating insights from locals who tell their breakfast stories from various countries is an added dimension that makes this an interesting read. My new favorite cookbook!

Bought for hash browns recipe: Not disappointed!
Thus far, I have cooked one recipe from this book: hash brown potatoes on page 16. I bought the book specifically because of a very positive review of this recipe I saw online. My wife and I were most assuredly not disappointed. After years of soggy home-made hash browns, this one does the trick: perfect in every way. Cooked exactly according to the recipe and turned out perfect. Crisp on the outside and appropriately moist inside. Look forward to trying many other recipes in this book, but this one, alone, was, as they say, "worth the price of admission."

Great add to any cooks collection!
Phaidon is a wonderful publishing company. I have several of their books and just like those, Breakfast: the cookbook did not disappoint. The careful details from the recipes to the photos to the binding is always appreciated and I feel as though I’ve got my money’s worth!

Nothing too special, in general
I received Breakfast: The Cookbook today and went through the book, looking at all the recipes. There are a number of recipes that don't require much imagination, such as Eggs in the Hole (a piece of bread with a hole cut in it and an egg fried in the middle of it) and your basic pancakes. Many recipes can be found in a basic cookbook. The book is also very egg-oriented - which might be expected. It IS interesting to see some of the diverse breakfast offerings from around the globe, but I also noticed that some of the ingredients for the more interesting recipes would be hard to come by. This book will probably not get a lot of use in my kitchen, unfortunately.

A massive exposition of breakfast all over the world.
I haven't had time yet to cook much from this book, but my first pass through it reading the recipes gives me confidence that they are representative, clearly written, and will work well on the first try.
