Interesting book for someone wanting to learn more about eastern medicine! A+. Would recommend getting in regular book form.
This book surprised me. I'm a nurse in the U.S. and from what I've read in this book, I don't know why we don't use more and more eastern medicine. I can't wait to learn more about it, this book was a great beginner book for someone interested in eastern medicine. I can't wait to learn more. Great book. I got it in Kindke edition, but will also be ordering the regular book also bc of the great recipes at the back of book, reference to herbal formulas, and just overall note taking/highlights of the book. YES there is that much good stuff in here, wonderful beginning to learning more!

One of the best books I have read in many years
One of the best books I have read in many years. Not only well written with excellent sourcing and index, it is a clear presentation of the powerful and affective impact of Acupuncture. Read, find a qualified practitioner and become an active participant in your own well being.

Interesting reading. We should have the west and east ...
Interesting reading. We should have the west and east work together for health care. Also the Chinese should add certain western herbs to their many herbs that they don't have such as Maca root from South America for even more herbs. The west has to be open minded about something from the east, it has been used for thousands of years.

My husband & I have found it very useful if somewhat detailed for our everyday use
A most detailed description of Chinese medicine. Thorough and understandable. It is a reference to be delved into from time to time not a "page turner" as a novel would be. My husband & I have found it very useful if somewhat detailed for our everyday use. Recommended for reference purposes and if you are a student of Chinese medicine.

Complicated
Almost need to be a practitioner to understand. Good learning tool; a complete course and not exactly what I wanted to know; just wanted to know basics and this goes into great detail.

This is a " forever go to" book in your library!
Excellent resource book...will never be out of date, nor in disuse if purchased.Five element discussion is exceptional and the sections on herbs are well arranged and thought out.Diagnosis information as well as queries are presented in a fashion in keeping with rest of book, did Isay excellent and exceptional..........The fact that domestic terrorists, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, had a hand in this books publication should not deter one from its purchase. Their politics are not reflected in book...........

shaping up to be the best book I have ever read
not done yet - but it makes everything in my life journey clear, from what Cartesian really means to the approach in Western medicine where life is pretty much left out of the treatment protocols makes you wonder how people are even alive in this time. This book is written with love, compassion and infinite intelligence.

A lucid and direct introduction to TCM...
Between Heaven And Earth is an extremely readable exposition of the philosophy behind Traditional Chinese Medicine and its practical healthcare applications. It is a well-known and widely respected volume that begins by introducing basic principles and methods before going a little deeper into five phase theory, and concluding with a discussion of acupuncture, herbalism and nutrition. The authors make good use of simple language and metaphors that translate Chinese ways of thinking to the Western mind. This book serves as an excellent introduction to a fascinating subject.

excellent text - both accessible and sophisticated
This is an excellent text on traditional Chinese medicine - particularly helpful in relation to the five elements. My personal interest is as a practitioner of energy psychology and I found it most illuminating in its outline of the personality aspects relating to these different elements. It is likely to be of benefit both to the general reader and the practitioner of energy-based therapies.

excellent intro to five element theory
as a student of equine shiatsu (my course also covered human shiatsu) i found this book to provide a clear, easily comprehendable introduction to the five elements. although this book is based around acupuncture and chinese herbal medicine, i found it easy & enjoyable to read (no techno jargon), suitable for students of oriental medicine or just those interested in it. despite the fact that there was a lot that was irrelivant to me, i still enjoyed reading it. i'd recommend it to anyone who wants a basic intro to chinese medical theory.
