Quality, quantity, and price worked for me
It's hard to find this type of mending plate for a decent price, quantity, and sturdiness. I used the plates to convert a tri-fold door into non-folding, sliding door for a pocket door I'm constructing. This heavily used sliding door is working out great with this hardware. I'm testing it before adding the back side of the pocket door.Because of my experiment, now, I'm converting another tri-fold door into a non-folding, sliding barn door.Another family member liked mine and thinks it will work great for the barn door he is adding in his studio room that will replace the heavily used bathroom door and leave needed space.

Screw Heads Stick Out
It appears these plates and screws are randomly combined for sale. Each tiny bag contains 6 screws while the plate only takes 4. Screws do not go in all the way and they stay sticking out. I replaced these screws with something else because one screw broke off and lost its head. Please be forewarned.The plate has a nice thickness to it. The blue protection film on the plate is a low quality and kind of hard to peel off completely. Some films were partially off upon arrival, and plates had scratches.[UPDATES] Four years later, the plates show NO RUST. Thumbs up for that.

Should do the Job
Seems ok to me! They are not magnetic and possibly stainless steel as someone else mentioned. RIP for my drill bit I guess. Yes, mine were are a little scratched from them jumbling around in the bag, but they seem to still look decent under the plastic. I dont need pretty for my use, though. Pic is of front, back, and after removing plastic.

Bought these plates to attach magnets to. Description states "Steel." They are stainless steel and magnets won't attach to SS. Good plates. Good quality Stainless Steel. Just didn't fit my need so I returned themIf you're looking for Stainless plates...these are very good. .

Protective covering looked bad at first but brackets were in good shape.
Thought it arrived with weird blue paint and scratched to hell but actually that was just the protective film. Seems good.

Not straight-up steel
These will likely work for whatever purpose you need, unless you planned to attach magnets to them. They are not plain "steel." Maybe stainless steel? I wanted to attach these to a wooden desk so I could attach magnet hooks, but these plates have zero magnetic properties. Would have given a 5 stars if they had mentioned they are not pure steel (i.e., stainless steel, steel alloyed with nickle, etc.).
