Too thin aluminum pipe
Pipe is too thin and after a period of time, the bottom lock button litterly falls out when the hole is worn out from the constant motion of the pole in the wind..... Company does not stand behind this even though they guarantee it..... ;or so they say.... A better locking system is needed..... but the price is right and the pole should last for 3-5 years, depending on wind conditions.

Best. Flagpole. Ever.
When we bought our home several years ago, it had one of these TopFlight poles in the yard and I loved it's ease of use. A spring thunderstorm with 80 MPH winds folded it over to the ground (I should have removed the flags).I replaced it with a much cheaper, standard flagpole which didn't last more than a year before it too was destroyed by a storm. The cheaper flagpole was cumbersome to use with the rope and pulley and the clanging of the hardware against the pole was audible inside the house. Also the flags would get wrapped around the pole since the hardware would not allow them to spin around. So, I replaced that flagpole with another TopFlight pole and I am reminded how awesome these poles are. The construction is superior, the collapsing design is SO easy to use and the way the pole is designed, the flags never get wrapped around the pole!As a bonus I purchased the combo pole and eagle finial. The Eagle topper is all metal and looks amazing on the pole.Installing the pole for me was easy since I already had the PVC base from the first TopFlight pole encased in concrete in the ground. But, installing the base wouldn't be too difficult for most folks to do. Just make sure you get it level and plumb! If you're looking for a top quality, easy to use flagpole for your home or business this is the one!

Nothing but trouble
I purchased this same Top Flight 20-ft telescoping aluminum flagpole from another vendor. I've had it 2-3 yrs. and it has been very unreliable and trouble prone. The biggest problem I've had is with the pin retaining mechanism, the pins that hold each section when the flag is raised. The pins frequently will not extend and on a couple of occasions will not depress. After using a little WD40, plus the flat blade of a screwdriver pushing hard, I ended up having to use a hammer that got the pin depressed, but destroyed the pin mechanism. There was some urgency to lower the flags because higher winds had been forecast. Due to these pins not being fully extended at times and a wiggle of the poles between sections due to windy conditions, there have been several uncommanded collapses of one or two sections that caused damage to the pin mechanisms and holes. The vendor,Sunsetter, did not want to honor my 5-yr warranty. Due to windy conditions the last two days, I had lowered the pole and removed the flags. This morning, temperature 21 deg., I tried to put the flags back up and the pin between sections 1 & 2 would not extend, it was frozen in position. This flag pole has been a big pain in the rear since I've had it, I'm giving up and buying a better, more sturdy flagpole from a different manufacturer.

Good flag pole...for a while
This flag pole works very well for about 3 years then it starts to come apart. Although the pole is aluminum, the working parts are plastic. I tried to call the company for replacement parts. They were very helpful, even sent me a parts list. I called to order, once again very friendly but once the order was complete for what I thought was warranty work, the bill came to nearly $80. I only paid about 160 for the pole. I emailed back to inquire why parts was so high but as of this writing I never got a reply. They didn't seem quite so friendly when you complain about the pricing. Buy a real flag pole, you will be glad of it in the long run.

Extremely High Quality Flag Pole
This flag pole is very high quality and well engineered. After having owned three other less expensive poles that mechanically malfunctioned after numerous extensions and retractions, it was exciting to get one that was easy to extend and retract without issues. It was purchased to travel with us in our RV and along with the tire stand has functioned flawlessly. The quality of the pole is top notch and looks great. I highly recommend this item and if you purchase it, you won't be replacing it for a long time.

Very problematic, unreliable design.
I've had this flagpole for 2-3 yrs, and it seems like all I've done is fight with this and repair that. The first problem I had was with 'frozen' section retaining pins. It appears like the design of these pins allows atmospheric moisture to enter causing rust or corrosion to 'freeze' the pins. I went out to lower the flag pole because of forecast strong winds, but two pins prevented me from lowering the flagpole. After trying several things to release the pin, I finally had to use a hammer bending the pin mechanism. One other problem is with a slight wobble between sections during windy conditions which causes the retaining pins to 'withdraw' within the hole. This has led to several un-commanded collapses of one or two sections, which resulted in damage to the lower pins and holes. After contacting SunSetter and explaining that the bottom sections 3 & 4 were damaged due to the collapse, they quoted me a cost of $36 even though I was still covered under the 5-yr. warranty. Another design deficiency are the clear, plastic section collar. These are very flimsy and break easily. They have small set pins that are inserted into the collars to help steady the pole and are tightened by a small Allen wrench. When installing a new collar that I had just gotten from SunSetter, the collar broke clean through even with reserved pressure. To sum this up, this flagpole for me has been a nightmare from beginning to end. I'm throwing in the towel and getting a new one, more sturdy and better made from different manufacturer. One tip, I got my flagpole back up by going to the local hardware store and buying 3 hose clamps. I've mounted them just above the plastic section collars, and tightened them down. Seems to be working for now.
