For the literate 'Gamers'!
Let me keep the thing concise:1. No, the events portrayed in this novel just can't be real, not now, not ten years back, not ever.2. No, you can't have such linguists who can read the language of a forgotten Spanish priest of 15th Century (who had described an idol, made from alien elements that can act as the source of a MOTHER OF ALL BOMBS), and who can also take on neo-Nazi groups, different factions of American Military, agents from Germany(?!), betrayers from all possible sources, cryptozoological creatures, large Caymans, AND WHO ALSO CAN DISARM weapons set to trigger apocalypse.3. No, you can't have so many futuristic weapons & accessories brandished at once, unless you are writing about the 3rd World War (last time when so many things were invented we were in the middle of the 2nd World War).4. No, you can't make such a story any more entertaining!Looking to spend a boring evening or some similar time in a semi-intellectual pursuit? Read this book, and YES, it is superb, as long as you keep reading it as a manuscript for a Video Game.Highly Recommended, obviously.

A good read
It's a good book with good character development. The plot is very high paced and story flows quite smoothly. But if you have read the seven ancient wonders series, you will find this book a bit disappointing. There are very few map references and sometimes the action sequence is so looonnnggg and complicated, it becomes boring.Like the part in which protagonist is chasing after the bad guys, this part is soo long and complicated, I literally started counting pages to see when it will end.Overall the book is typical Matthew Reilly action with high tech guns, exploding choppers and flying boats.A good read nevertheless..

if you love movies like Rambo,The Expendables and Indiana Jones than this book for you read some of the interesting lines"Don't hit the log, will, don't hit the logs.....and then he realized.they were caimans.Don't hit the caimans, will, don't hit the caimans.."and"Race hit him again, and again, and again - yelling with each punch as the Nazi staggered backwards.'Get -'Punch.'- off -'Punch.'- my -'Punch.'- boat!

Great book
As always another great book that you can not put down, I first read this book when I was in the Maldives 17 years ago that's when I started to get into Matthew Reilly books, finished all his latest one. So I decided to reread contest and temple again. Thank you Matthew Reilly for such great books look forward to the next one , which may not be for a year or so. But I can wait.

Reilly does it again!
I think Matt Reilly is one of my favourite authors at the moment, his work is almost non-stop action from start to finish and this book is no different. It tracks the adventure of Prof Race in a quest to find a mysterious Incan idol made from an extra-terrestrial mineral that could have devastating consequences if it falls into the wrong hands. The book also follows the story of Santiago, a Spanish monk in the 1500's that is helping get the idol to it's current resting place rather than fall into the hands of the bloodthirsty conquistadors.I got this book to read in the 4 weeks leading up to my holiday but it was so good I read it in less than half that time. If you enjoy this I would recommend looking up Reilly's Shane Schofield Ice Station & Jack West Jr Seven Ancient Wonders (Jack West Junior 1) series also as they are great reads too. Ice StationSeven Ancient Wonders (Jack West Junior 1)

A page turner and a half!
I read these Matthew Reilly thrillers a few years ago. Now I've got them on Kindle, I'll enjoy them again, Impossible scenarios, but a thrill a second!

Unputdownable
It's no secret Matthew Reilly has redefined the action-adventure-thriller genre. On top of hair-raising escapes and escapades , we are treated to gems of historical knowledge and a cast of believable characters. The word "unputdownable" seems to have been coined for Reilly's books. If you haven't read him you'd better start now.

Very exciting
Enjoyed this, but also enjoyed the others by same author. Good old fashioned hero type.

Temple
Like most of Matthew Reilly's books this is long and full of action. There are so many bullets flying that most of Peru's jungle must have been destroyed. It is a bit confusing to keep track of the number of organisations involved, but despite these comments I really enjoyed it !

Helter skelter!
I know, I know, all Mr Reilly's books require the suspension of belief but, they are rip roaring tales that are so easy to lose yourself in. I LOVE all his novels. This one has two stories running side by side but seperated by hundreds of years. The subject matter is based on Incan ruins and a quest for a sacred but lost relic. If you fancy an "A-Team" type tale, give it a go.

Fantastic read and fast pace book
Great book and fantastic read from start to finish. Just at the end, do the Rapas die when the tribe moves off given no one is there to feed them anymore?

Good fun
Great read, full of the usual Reilly brand of action. Don’t expect realism or massive amounts of character development, just a rollicking rollercoaster of a ride...love it!
