Another reviewer wrote that there were no instructions, and someone commented that they should look at the manufacturer's website.Lest this happen to you, too: The scale 'set' comes in a cardboard box. In that cardboard box are a small white box containing the adapter plug, a 9-volt battery, and the postal scale in its own box. I removed these three items. The cardboard box was now 'empty'. I unpacked the scale: no instructions! I looked at the manufacturer's website; no instructions. Google didn't help, either. I emailed the manufacturer. A few minutes later, I prepared to discard the cardboard outer box, and happened to glance inside again. 'Stuck' to the inside, by static, was a thin, double-folded sheet of paper, about 4 by 6 inches! (I sent a 'never mind' email to the manufacturer. What I should have done was to send them a strong suggestion that the instructions be packed in the inner box, together with the scale!)The scale itself seems very good. The instructions include a section on recalibrating. I'm not really sure under which circumstances this might have to be done, since it seems fine right out of the box.

I settled on this digital scale after reviewing several on Amazon. Some of the others were too pricey, others had too many dissatisfied customers. This one seemed to have the perfect balance of an affordable cost, a large capacity and few complaints. So far, so good. The memory function is invaluable. The first package I put on it was rather large and weighed almost 20 pounds. When I checked shipping online based upon the weight the scale gave me, it was the exact price I was given at the satellite post office (unfortunately you can't print first class postage at home from the USPS website). I am very satisfied with this purchase. The free AC adapter is a nice bonus - they cost extra with most of the other scales I looked at.

This scale works perfectly at a great price. I have been using it regularly for over four months, now, and I couldn't be happier. Battery wear is phenomenal, I haven't had to change them once since my purchase. I love the fact that it easily changes mode from pounds/ounces to kilograms/grams. I also appreciate the automatic shut-off feature (which I am sure contributes to the battery life). It is light, portable, and, since every once in a while I test it by also weighing the same package at the post office, 100% accurate. What more could you ask for?UPDATE 05/24/2011: This product is definitely a throwback to the days when things were made well and were built to last. After over a year of heavy use, I am still on the original battery, and the scale still weighs packages extremely accurately when compared with the scales at the USPS. And it still is available for a great price! At the risk of sounding redundant, what more could you ask for in a scale?

I had become tired of using the bathroom scale and/or guessing the weight of packages and then getting charged more than expected when I got to the shipper/USPS. This scale is very affordable, lightweight, compact and looks good, too! It will weigh packages (or anything else) up to 55 lbs. and is very accurate and easy to use. It comes with batteries and an AC adaptor. It measures 9-1/2"L x 8"W x 3"H (top surface is 8" x 5-3/4") and has a LCD display, which shows either lbs/oz or kg/gr. Now I know what my shipping charges will be before I ship. I am very impressed with the quality and price and highly recommend it to anyone who ships anything. I can't find anything wrong with this scale. It's a great time and stress saver!!

We've only used this scale three or four times, and everytime we use it I find myself wondering why we waited so long to get it. I've used it a few times to weigh books for mailing before taking it to the Post Office and have found it to be pretty darn accurate. We even used it to weigh a carry-on suitcase we took onboard a flight to San Francisco last week. In the past we've used our bathroom scale or have hung the luggage on a hand held scale, but it was never very accurate or reassuring. I haven't used the tare feature yet, but otherwise this scale is everything we were looking for without costing a fortune. I like that an AC adapter came with the purchase. It shipped quickly and arrived in good condition. We're very happy with this purchase.

You get what you pay for. I purchased this scale for my soap making. I don't need scale that weighs heavy objects, but a convertible one that is accurate with smaller amounts such as scents or oils in more complex recipes. The Tara feature is mandatory for me and that works just fine. As I add my ingredients the scale most often times takes about 10-20 seconds, occasionally longer to come to it's final decision. That is not a long time in the realm of life, but when standing there adding ingredients, it seems like forever. It is an accurate scale, but if you need your weight sooner than later. I wouldn't recommend this one. I will tag sale this and purchase a better one in the near future.

not only good for packages and postage, but ever have one of those recipes where they want 10 oz or a pound of something - you can weight it on this scale!

I think I read ever description in every ad for a scale that met my needs. To date, this one is not disappointing me. You have to be very careful about laying a package/envelope on the scale. You may need to slide it around to get a reasonable weight measurement. But, once you've got your measurement, you can take that to the USPS online postal charge and get an exact figure for your package -- and this is what I wanted. The product is still rather new to me, but I sense I'm going to be quite pleased with this product.
