Watchout Buyer!!
This is a great portable device. On the other hand, it's a disappointment device. It has a fantastic sound signature, I loved it!! Although, the battery failure, it really turn that flame off from me.I just hope "the bit" fix this problem. This problem was not just me there are other consumers who bought this device has the same issue. So, if you want to buy this DAP, you should wait until the bit fix this issue.

There is better out there.
Lacks emotional connection. My Samsung Galaxy S10+ is far better. So is my Cayin N5mkii. Didn't like the volume buttons at all. To warm sounding.

Outstanding sound and navigation.
I have had this new toy for 2 days, and already love it. The sound is spectacular with my Grado SR 125 headphones. It has plenty of power with its built-in headphone amp to drive just about anything. I ripped my entire CD collection of several hundred discs to FLAC some time ago, and am just floored that all of that music-roughly 120 GB- easily fits onto a chip about the size of my thumbnail, with over 100 GB of room left over! Then I added over 100GB of MP3 files and still have room left on the chip. Everything sounds wonderful. I cannot describe it in technobabble, but I can say that is the finest sound quality I have ever heard from a sound system. The software navigation is first-rate too. This machine is made for only one thing-to play music with incredible quality sound. You cannot stream with it, or check your email while you are walking across the parking lot, or watch your porn or other videos on it, or talk to your friends, or take pictures or make recordings, etc ad nauseum. Operation and navigation is simple, intuitive, and very competent. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for. In this case, you could pay a lot more for other systems to get this quality. I cannot wait to hear what it sounds like with a new set of Periodic Audio beryllium earphones!Addendum:The Periodic Audio beryllium earphones are phenomenal with this player!

Do Not Buy - Defective Design
The Battery Problem, that this comes from the factory with, means the battery will only charge to 25%. I have tried everything, the OPUS 1S will even show that it's 98% charged (when charging) , but if you look at the tiny battery icon in the settings menu, it will show you the truth: THE BATTERY WILL NEVER BE CHARGED ABOVE 25%. This means that after listening for a very short time, this garbage will shut off in the middle of your favorite songs. Fresh out of the box, it had this issue so that it wouldn't even allow me to install the update pack (I thought that would maybe solve it). I even tried restoring it to factory specs, but it made no difference. It really isn't much more than a very expensive paper weight.

Not quite there, but very, very close
I bought this partly for the reviews, partly for the storage potential (upwards of half a terabyte in your pocket is not to be sniffed at), and partly for the curiosity.Full marks for the screen and user interface. The former is sharp and bright, the latter fantastically intuitive and nice and fast. It seems well built and solid, looking a little prosaic, but smart. It's a little chunky in the hand and big in the pocket, but entirely live-able with. Line out, but no optical out.Two gripes, neither show-stoppers, but irritating. First, when you turn this unit on, it updates its database; and if you have a couple of full memory cards in place, this takes a loooong time. You can avoid this, by leaving the unit on standby rather than turning it off completely, but this does drain the battery, albeit slowly. Second, if you do completely fill your memory cards, the Opus will not find all your music, though it will display album and artists for everything, including the missing music. I haven't worked out yet what it's actual limit is on this, which means that every so often I try to play an album and get an error message instead. Which is kinda frustrating. The sound? Very clear, very neutral to my ears, and actually completely sublime with the right recording and the right earphones. But, for me, it's a digital sound, and it edges over into harshness a little too easily. Not what I would call a musical sound signature. It lacks depth and feeling.I can't deny the value proposition on offer here, but I wouldn't want this player to be my only portable option. YMMV.

Garbage
The onboard storage isn't enough to carry anyone's FLAC library, so you have to have a microSD card. If the thing powers off, you're going to have to wait ten minutes for it to mount the drive. There's no folder play through, so if you have a library with bad metadata, you have to go back and open a new folder whenever you reach the end of an album, or keep your files unorganized. The sound is no better than the FiiO X1. I notice no difference on Grado 235s nor Sennheiser HD1s. There's no bluetooth, so you can't use wireless headphones/earbuds. Total waste of money. Easily the worst purchase I've made in my life.

FIRE HAZARD. NO SUPPORT. SKIP!!!!
THIS IS ZERO STARS!!! As others will describe, this unit ships with defective batteries. Mine totally swelled, cracked the case open, exposing the battery, and turned into a fire hazard. You will NOT receive ANY response from Thebit. Go ahead, fill out their support form. Click submit. You'll get something that appears to be Korean. And no response. Go ahead, email the info address on the page. You will get a bounce back from your ISP with a permanent failure. There is no point whatsoever in describing anything else about the unit. It's defective. It's a fire hazard. And there is no support from the manufacturer. Look elsewhere!
