RED DUKE OF YORK Seed Potatoes A first early variety Red Duke of York is a sport of Duke of York and is reputed to have been discovered growing in a crop of white Dukes in Holland in the early 1940's. The large, red skinned tubers are oval in shape with shallow eyes and moist yellow flesh with a floury texture. Highly regarded for its superb flavour, it is said to be an ideal potato for baking and roasting and does not disintegrate when boiled. Red Duke of York is one of only a few good red-skinned first early potatoes. The tasty, old fashioned flavour of this potato has ensured that it has become increasingly popular in recent years.
