Scandinavian Glass, 1930-2000: Smoke & Ice (Schiffer Book for Collectors with Price Guide)

Nice guide for fans of Scandinavian glass
I recently had to help my family price out their collection of Scandinavian glass and pottery for insurance purposes. My parents collected many items from Sweden and Denmark from the 1960s and beyond but could not always remember where they bought a particular items. This book was an ENORMOUS help. I was able to find at least half a dozen pieces that we owned and determined reasonable values for quite a few more.I also purchased the 'Fire and Sea' book by the same authors. The difference is this book deals mostly with clear, lightly colored, etched or similar styles of glass while the 'Fire and Sea' book deals more with colored glass. Both are excellent and have beautiful pictures. I just wish they had released a book on pottery too.

A good reference book
As someone who collects glass but knows very little about it this has proved to be an interesting book, both in the text and the pictures. There is good information about the respective glass artists, designers and companies who produced Scandinavian glass from 1930-2000, plus such details as photographs of label designs that help to date pieces, and the artists' signatures.

Very Informative
Great book for any collector of Scandinavian glass. This book covers mostly clear, frosted, cut and engraved glass. I would recommend also buying the partner book called "Fire & Sea" which covers all of the coloured glass. Overall a quality book with great photos and a worthwile purchase.
