Friendly 'education' on use of the crockpot.
Friendly, chatty tone relative to learning to use a slow cooker. It is an easy read. I'm not through the book as yet, nor tried any of the recipes in it, but am enjoying the 'education'. I also bought the "Crockpot Slow Cooking Recipes" binder cookbook, so have plenty of "experiments" to try in the crockpot. I bought the crockpot for fixing meals that can cook while I am out working in the garden, yard, etc. Too many times I've come in tired and hungry and had to find something quick [and generally not very healthy] to eat as I am too tired to cook something for now. I was also quite interested to find one can cook desserts in the crockpot also. Quite a leap from years ago and my first 'little' crockpot. BTW: A crockpot is a slow cooker; but a slow-cooker is not necessarily a crockpot. Difference? A crockpot cooks up the sides as well as the bottom. A "slow cooker" that is not a crockpot, only cooks from the bottom. Never knew there was a difference.

Recipes Not Needed
This book provides all needed information about how to cook with a slow cooker, INCLUDING how to convert any recipes you already have to a slow cooker format. Therefore, with this book, you do not need any new, specially dedicated "slow cooker" recipe books (bookstores are full of these) - convert the favorite recipes you already have, in accordance with this book's conversion instructions.Ironically, two-thirds of this book's length is devoted to recipes! My interest in slow cooker cooking is for nutritional reasons, not cooking convenience. Slow cooking is low heat cooking, which preserves nutrients. Slow cooking also enhances food taste and nutrition by enhancing food "blending."

Great Book for the Elderly that may have forgotten or Never learned to cook for them selves
It was ment as a joke but my Father inlaw Loves it I have always told him cooking wasn't hard and now that my mother inlaw isn't able to cook everything he is slowly learning to cook for them himself and I can't believe he hasn't had one question about how to use the new slow cooker I got them with this book for Christmas

Not just for dummies
OK, so this is the third book that I bought for my neice, so that she won't burn her first apartment down trying to make dinner for herself and her roommates. This is a good, basic little book that will provide her with some recipes that she can put together fairly easily, dump in the slow cooker, and have dinner ready when she returns from school. It's not real fancy, but the recipes look really good and easy enough that she can handle them. Would recommend this for teens, college students, and anyone who would like to use a slow cooker but doesnt' know where to begin.

Weekly Cook Off
3 co-workers and I have started a weekly cookoff using Slow Cooker for Dummies. This book is very helpful! It has pictures of different herbs, and shows how to dice vs mince. If anyone has NO knowledge of cooking, this is a good book to start with. I have enjoyed all the dinners we have made so far. Just dont be surprised that alot of the recipes are not for a crock pot. Most of these are dinners you make on the stove. Its still a good experience to learn both, I was just surprised when I read through the book.

Great Intro to Slow Cookers
This is a great book for beginners and, even as an experienced slow cooker, I found the book helpful. The authors provide interesting information on how sloow cookers work; how to choose a slow cooker; and how to adapt traditional recipes for the slow cooker. There's also a good selection of recipes which include nutritional information. It's a solid book for any slow cook's colletion.

... to slow cookers and thought it would be an easy to follow book with helpful pictures
Bought this book as I am new to slow cookers and thought it would be an easy to follow book with helpful pictures. The recipes are easy to follow but the book is black and white with no pictures. Disappointed with this book and wouldn't recommend.

too American
Book is too American, there isnt a single recipe in it that I would make. Most of the recipes require pre-cooking before going into the slow cooker, the whole point of getting a slow cooker was so I could put all the ingredients in and leave it to cook itself.

good clear instuctions
got this as there wasn't any recipes with the slow cooker we bought and being new to it all wanted some sort of direction on how to use it, this book has loads of good recipes in it and makes it easy to use.
