Oakplus French Oak Chips - Medium Toast, 1 lb

Perfect for enhancing the complexity of bourbon. After just a week the French oak added new depths of complexity to my bourbon. I found new notes of caramel, vanilla, chocolate, baking spice, butter cookies, dark fruit, and just a hint of cedar on the nose. On the palate, the first thing noticed is a fresh baked pastry sweetness with caramel and salted butter, followed by baking chocolate, black walnut, brown sugar, and vanilla. The starting ABV is 53%. The actual color of the wood is light brown and I noted a pleasant wood sweetness when first opening the bag. The advertising photo is a bit greenish which isn't present in the product in natural light.

I love the heavy toast, and have had many bags of good quality chips. Decided to try the medium toast chips but got a bag of what was mostly powder. Refund requested.

This is my second batch of French oak chips. I use them in an air tight glass jar with neutral grain alcohol. The flavor and color change is amazing! It mellows it out and u can really taste the vanilla and butter scotch. I plan on letting this most recent batch sit for about 4 months. If you have done this with American oak please treat yourself and try these French oak chips!!! You won't be disappointed!

Best oak chips on Amazon. Complex aroma, hints of cinnamon, vanilla. Will flavor your wine of other products nicely. I grind this stuff still further, down to sawdust, in a rotary-blade coffee grinder. ONe bag of these chips does about 6 or 7 batches of wine for me, 6 gallons per batch. I use about a cup in each batch.

The wood chips look and smell great. I’m sure the end result of the wine will be beautiful. Will know in a few months. They came perfectly packaged and protected. A quality product that I alr day ordered 2 more pounds of. Will def order these again.

Going to use for my 20 gallons of homemade wine. I usually like to add some oak flavor, but nothing overpowering. Hoping this does the trick. Will follow up with a better assessment at a later time. packaged good and product seems pretty good.

put some in store bought vodka and tastes pleasant after a few weeks. will try some in a special beer soon.

I'm going to try and make this work but what I received was not oak chips. Maybe a quarter of the bag was chips. The rest I would classify as saw dust. Would not order this again.
