further the author has provided many useful examples and templates
21 Office Situations - And How To Deal With Them (Updated Edition) is one of those rare books by a experienced Indian corporate professional that you will definitely keep handy and refer to at least once in the future i.e. after your first reading. That's due to the fact that it is so practical, concise and easy-to-red.No fancy academic jargon, no irrelevant foreign experiences which may or may not be relevant and applicable in the Indian corporate context. One can see the author's empathy, self awareness and maturity in the various tricky office situations described and how he dealt with them in a tactful and effective manner; further the author has provided many useful examples and templates , which one can apply even before reading the whole book :)The author has broken down various office situations and how to deal with them in a in-depth and comprehensive manner without being verbose. one can directly go to the relevant section (Navigation, Escalation, Hiring et al) and to the specific problem area (Example- how to reduce meetings & conference calls), so that one can refer to the exact chapter, whenever one is in a similar situation and needs guidance.Further adding a contextually relevant Randy Glasbergen cartoon at the beginning of each chapter is a winner :)This book should be made part of any business-management course as required reading, especially in communication and interpersonal modules as it will hugely help fresh graduates / MBAs / young working professionals to get a heads up in dealing with tricky office situations. unlike typical HR-OB academic tomes, this book is actually useful from the 1st reading itself !Honestly speaking, had a read this book at the beginning of my career, it would have been a definite lifesaver a lots of tricky office situations I had faced in the past.To ensure longer term memory retention and effective reading, readers should ideally: 1) Jot down notes in the page margins (1st Reading - Skimming - 1-2 hours; Read headings, sub headings and chapter summaries) 2) Highlight key concepts, insights (2nd Reading - Indepth- 7-8 hours; Example: Mentioning the number of days delay in a request email subject line is very effective in getting a revert from the counter party - Chapter 1) 3) Capture key chapter learnings in readers own words and create a actionable checklist chapter wise (3rd Reading - Notetaking - 1-2 hours; Example- Draft and email a pre-session 1-pager with all meeting attendees to get them up-to speed - Chapter 11)The above steps for immersive deep dive reading should enable one to read this book effectively in 8-10 hours and complete reading this book in a week.Effective Post Reading Next Steps:1) Post reading reflection, especially during the 3rd reading phase (Note taking really help in long-term memory retention and actionable learning, especially when reading non-fiction books).2) One can use the templates in the Exercises (Page 288) section to keep track of one's responses to various office situations and continually evolve one's responses and actions.

Lifesaver with Real-time Examples
This book offers a pragmatic approach to your daily corporate life. After reading a few chapters in which the author showed how to write a strong email in the case of reminders, and how to be a nice guy before your boss, I got the hunch that it is a quintessential book for the people working and struggling in the corporate world of India.I think every person with a white collar job needs to have this book. Why? The equation is very simple: a person's career into corporate world is not as short as overnight journey or as fragile as sand dune. Possibly, when a person starts his/her career, they have to work minimum for 20 years to gain something meaningful out of their life and this success is critical to their retirement days. Too many blunders or faux pass are certainly there to stop you from going smooth. It, like a coach, advises you as how to set yourself for a long innings.Author's experience clearly runs through the matters presented with careful detailing. For, people who wish to have a long career in the corporate world, this book is like panacea. On a plus side, people can keep it for future references, like when you simply do not know how to win over your boss without disturbing his ego, or how to get A5 in appraisal, or how to get your work done from other departments, this book comes as a timely help from the author who has put in the instances spiraling out of his own experiences.I loved this book for its relevancy and now I am sure that it is going to save millions of people from turning on hopers. I wish I had read this book years ago when I was a newcomer to the intrigues of the corporate world. Don't take this book as another boring self-help book, rather keep it safe in your office bag for a timely help.

This book has been so far the best book I must have read while I was at my colleagues desk & at the very first go I could relate myself with the book & started analysing that in so many areas I had to work upon where the solutions were so simple & nicely articualted in this book. I generally dont buy books as I am not an avid reader but this book fascinated me so much that this will always be with me throughout & will encourage young leaders to read, helping them to take the right moves at the right time.To share the insights of the book "21 Office Situations - And How To Deal With Them" situations that are faced in day-to-day office routine are articualted at its best. One passes those situations, mulls over them and then leaves them unattended unless the matter has become too big to be handled immediately. This book can be used as a templated version on how to come out in a win-win situation for all involved and that too with practical application already done by the author himself. To me, this book surely helps the untrained and provides the base of how disciplined approach and documenting things & helps in the long run.
