Fun book
My toddler really enjoys this book. It can be a bit tricky to hold the book and a flashlight in a good position. Overall a lot of fun.

An interactive book for playing in the dark
This book is meant to be held up to a bright light or with a flashlight to create shadows and overlapping shapes. Not all shapes are obvious but hint at the possible stories with minimal narration. A different story is possible every time and allows children lots of freedom to make their own discoveries. We discovered this in the Pompidou Museum in Paris and were glad to be able to buy more copies here online for all the kids in our life. It's become a favorite!

Four Stars
Great idea but a bit tough to use. Flashlight did not work for us. The regular lamp did.

Tullet Win
This book has been a go to bedtime/naptime/anytime we can make it dark favorite. A huge helping key would be to pick up a newer led flashlight, as the consistency and clarity of those works 100 times better than the old style flashlights. The shadows and stories are truly endless if you use your imagination, and the animal's in the book sold my 2 yr old from our first "read"!

Not very good for two year old
Not very good for two year old, but very good for older kids who has more understanding of stories.

Rather entertaining
Favourite book before going to sleep for a 2 y.o. :)There's a bit of story in the book about garden and animals. The cutouts are nice and sharp, some designs are quite intricate (for a toddler), others more simple. But I'd really love it if it had more pages (there are 8), though. ;)

Didn't Live Up to the Hype
I really wanted to like this book...I really did! I'm a fan of Hervé Tullet, but this just didn't meet my expectations or live up to its reputation at all! There are only 8 pictures or so, the board book is difficult to hold open with 1 hand while holding a flashlight in the other, and it's all around just an impractical kind of book. If it wasn't so inexpensive, I would have considered returning it, as it's really just a 1 time read kind of book. Save yourself the money and borrow it from the library!

My grandson loves it
This Christmas gift was a real hit among all ages. Everyone had to stop and try the shadows which delighted the two-year-old who was the intended recipient.

Such an inventive book creator
Having loved "Press Here", I'm keen to see more of his work, so thought this would tie in with the 2013 Summer Reading Challenge theme of Creepy House. It has the outline of a house, and each page is a black cut out of a parent and child exploring a dark, outside world. Very few words and I wasn't sure what I was doing with it. On the back page is a small note about needing a grown up and a torch to play the game, but i'm still not sure what that would achieve. I'm going to try again in the dark!! I still think his imagination and concepts are novel and refreshing.

Wonderful!
What a wonderful book! We are well on our way to collecting all the Hervé Tullet books. My 1 year old son delights at the shadows on the wall this book creates and I have no doubt he will enjoy it in the years ahead. We have also given this as a gift and the parents loved it - 'never seen a book like this before' they said.

A lovely book and great fun to shine these shadows on the ceiling and invent stories with. I cut the book up using a stanely knife so it was easier to manipulate the angle and distance of each page, as it's quite difficult to fully open the book.
