Updated: There were signficant issues at delivery, but the seller worked to correct
Update:So, I have received at least a half dozen emails from the seller since I left my original review trying to send me parts and update my review as they admitted it affects their sales. While the communications are somewhat self serving, I will give them credit for trying to make the situation right. As a result, they sent me a new seat back within three days of my request after about 10 days of their constant emails. I have updated my review from one to three stars and here's why: 1) Their diligent attempts to make the situation right, no matter the underlying reason, is appreciated. 2) With the unbroken seat back, the chair went together well and is decently constructed. Here's why it wasn't 4 or 5 stars: 1) The shipping container issues, broken part, and confusing packaging for the bolts, unless corrected for subsequent deliveries, is still a problem. 2) Once put together the chair is not very comfortable for ME. It may be for someone else, but here are my issues: The seat bottom doesn't raise high enough. The gas piston controlling the height doesn't come up high enough so I sit too low at my desk. I compared it to my existing chair and this one is at least 2 inches lower at its max. Also, the head rest is too far back, I have to lean back into a semi-reclining position to use the headrest and for my shoulders to touch the back of the seat, which is uncomfortable for me. If the headrest came forward more, or the seat back was canted more forward at the top, it would be much more comfortable and a more ergonomically correct seating position for typing.Honestly, I would probably return this chair if it weren't such an enormous hassle to disassemble it and get it back into the box. That being said, this chair may work well for someone else and the second nit may just be my personal preference.Original:It looked like this would be a great chair, but it arrived broken and unusable.First, the shipping box: it arrived with the chair base sticking out. All of the parts were basically dropped in the box with a little bit of flat plastic sheeting. The box had holes everywhere where the parts pierced the box during shipping. Very poorly designed packaging so it's no surprise the chair was broken with all of the parts basically banging around the box during shipping from overseas.Second, the chair itself: after assembling the seat, arms and back, then the base; I turned that assembly over and put the seat on the base. As I was doing this a bunch of small white plastic broken parts fell out of the seat back brace. The mechanism for adjusting to the four available seatback heights was broken. So, the chair won't adjust above the lowest possible seatback level. I am 6' 1", the broken seatback won't work for me. Again, not a surprise given how poorly this thing was packaged.Last, the bolts included for assembly were all there, and I obviously figured out which was which, but they were completely mislabeled in the blister pack provided.I think I would have really liked this chair, but if they are going to charge $260 for it, they better package it more appropriately for the long shipping process to make sure it arrives in working order.

Not bad, but doesn't seem to last
EDIT: Updating this review to 2 stars after 6 months -- the chair mechanism to raise and lower the chair back has failed. It can only stay at the lowest setting. While the chair back can lock into place with the turn of a lever, it now randomly unlocks which is a bit annoying. Also, it is now very creaky.EDIT #2: Updating to 1 star after 1.5 years. The chair mechanism to raise and lower the chair works more or less but is easy to accidentally move, so it's still a point of frustration. In my opinion the most frustrating fault with this chair is the creaking sounds it makes. If you lean back in the chair and hold that position for a bit, then shift your weight around, the chair will creak loudly. I've tried putting a bunch of different lubricants and oils in various places under the chair, but they only provide creak-abatement for about a day and then it returns. It's loud enough to wake my partner from sleep if I'm on the computer (in the same room) at night.--- Original Review ---I've been looking to get a new chair for a while. I went to a warehouse and tried very expensive brands and middle range brands and bought some cheaper chairs from random Chinese brands here on Amazon. Herman Miller, Ergohuman, Haworth, etc. I use various Herman Miller chairs every day at work for my desk chair and conference rooms. One might say I'm reasonably I'm familiar with "the state of the office desk chair industry" and what it has to offer at this time (June 2nd, 2019).Expensive chairs can be nicer, but they are not worth the price. Herman Miller is just a name. This chair (the chair I am reviewing here -- "High Back Office Chair" by HESSEN -- is of comparable build quality to any Herman Miller chair I've tried (and that's many) and offers more customizations of any chair I've ever used before. And at $250, this chair is one of the better options on the market. For reference, I have in the past week personally tried the following chairs:Herman Miller Aeron, Herman Miller Embody, Herman Miller Mirra 2, Herman Miller Sayl, Haworth Vari, Ergohuman (classic), OfficeSource Nova High-Back chair (HM Eames knock-off), Gabrylly Office Chair (Ergohuman knock-off), August Furniture / "Allguest" Office Chair, Hbada Ergonomic Office Desk chair, this Hessen High Back Office Chair, and several others.I am a male 6'2" tall, athletic build, 170 lbs.In my opinion, this chair is the most comfortable chair of all the chairs I tried. The more expensive chairs might have slightly better build quality and materials, but lack the customizability that this chair has, and most don't have headrests (some you can purchase a headrest add-on though). Surprisingly, a close second in terms of most comfortable chairs for me was the OfficeSource Nova High-Back chair. That chair fit me naturally very well, but it is not customizable at all other than tilt angle, tilt tension, and seat height. It also has no headrest, though I could probably have fastened a headrest to it by wedging a 4x4 block of wood between the metal bars in the back and drilling $13 headrest to it (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P85C6OU/). The only reason why I didn't was because it uses PU leather (faux leather) which will eventually crumble and leave specks of chair everywhere on the floor which wasn't something I was looking forward to dealing within.Pros of this chair:- More customizations of any chair I've ever sat in before. Look at the picture they provide -- it's all there. By far the most important adjustment they provide that almost no other chair I've found provides is the BACKREST HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT. This allows you to put the chair backrest at exactly the height that works for your spine, and that's great.- Great build quality compared to all other chairs I've purchased on Amazon (3 others).- The mesh material is firm and strong like Herman Miller chairs, unlike the other amazon chairs I tried such as the Hbada, Gabrylly, and Auguest Furniture chairs where the backrest mesh has a lot of give and doesn't quite bounce back the way you want it to.- Minor point but somehow the casters roll far easier on my low pile carpet than the Hbada chair I've used for a while.Cons of this chair:- Seat is a bit firm. Maybe heavier people will find the firmness perfect, but for me I wish it were a tad bit softer.- The armrests position while barely okay for me are too spaced apart for my girlfriend (as in, rather than having her arms fall straight / mostly straight down her sides, she has to widen her arms from her body in order to reach the armrests, which isn't the most comfortable for her. She is 5'4" / 100lbs). They are a bit wide even for me... I would like about an inch less wide. It would be nice if the armrest width was adjustable in some way.- Some chairs are designed such that the locking mechanism allows you to lock the chair in any orientation you have the chair at while in the unlocked mode. This chair however only allows you to lock at predefined angles. There are a lot of locking angles, but sometimes I feel like would like to lock it at a position in between the available options.- EDIT: After 4 months of use (it is now Oct 2, 2019) I have to add a slight con in that the armrests adjustment gives too easily. I wish there was a way to lock them in place somehow, because sometimes I'll get up by pushing down on the armrests slightly and they slip left/right or back/forward in the process. You can accidentally move them simply by shifting your weight in the chair as most people do after sitting in the same position for a while. It's not the biggest deal in the world but it'd be nice if they stayed in place a bit better. If you are looking for a very customizable chair, this chair is a good bet, but might not be the most ideal for smaller people (under 5'5"). Keep in mind that you should really try as many chairs as possible if you are considering a chair that you will spend hours each day in -- if you sit in your chair as much as I do, then it's even more important than finding a good mattress!A note about returning chairs that don't work for you: Don't worry about packing up the chair to return. Every chair I've purchased so far I have been unable to separate the chair mechanism from the cylinder and the base it's attached to (where the casters / wheels go). Amazon guarantees returns, so if you can't get it apart, don't worry. Just throw it in the box and tape it up as best you can. I have returned a few crooked boxes this way no problem -- UPS still picks them up. And indeed if they didn't, I would just leave stuff out of the box until they did. As a customer I can only be expected to do what I can within the bounds of reason to pack the chair back in its original state -- beyond that it's the company's issue. The fact that few of these chairs are designed to come apart easily suggests to me that perhaps some of these companies are relying on customers not wanting to return chairs because of how difficult it is to disassemble, and thereby sticking with a chair that is not best for them and their spine health. Don't do that. Disassemble the chair as best you can, and find the chair that's right for you.

Good overall chair
Pro: The chair was not bad. Quite comfortable. Easy to assemble.Con: The 3D adjustable arm rest was a little loose moving from side to side. For example, if i lean on one side, it doesn't take a lot of effort to move the arm rest. If this arm rest side to side movement is tighter that would be great. The other thing was the base of the chair came like the picture shown, a lot of scuff marks. It's cosmetic, not too big of a deal.
