Light Stand Mount with 1/4-20 Mini Ball Head for Monitor/LED Light

This review is for the CAMVATE Mini-Ball-Head Light Stand Mount for Monitor/LED Light. I'm using mine to hold a small 4" x 6" LED soft light over a soft photo cube. It is mounted on a not-expensive standard boom mic stand and it works perfectly. The design is very clever and strong and keeps my LED light exactly exactly where I want it. I'm a happy camper!

Camvate light stand mount provides strength using aluminum and plastic construction. Pros - Reasonable costs - Strong metal at joints for bending and turning needs Cons - Plastic at knobs and 1/4 20 turn plate mount doesn't impact performance.

I like this little unit I put it on my light stand and hook a projector to it and I can raise and lower angles , it works really well.

Small but tough and strong.

Well made and quite useful but sometimes hard to make minor adjustments in one axis.

If your questioning if you need this or not, or if you wonder “how many times/uses will I get from it”, you need this. This has so many uses and you will use it more than you’d imagine. Made a strong lightweight metal. Will buy more.

If you want this thing to give you a 90 degree angle, great--there's a cut out for that. Want a 180 degree angle, straight up and down? Good luck. There's no slot, carve out, guide or anything to get it perfectly straight. The factory who machined it is the only one that could presumably get that orientation dead on without hours of fussing with it and hoping you have accurate bubble levels, but they couldn't be bothered. This isn't an uncommon problem with ballheads--they'll give you any orientation except straight until you fuss with them and end up calling it "good enough". But in most other cases, the factory at least cares enough to properly position them at manufacture so they're shipped accordingly. CAMVATE tightened this one at like a 30 degree angle and shipped it. If even the factory can't straighten it without just giving up, what hope is there for the rest of us?

I use these on my light stands to hold my Lumecube Panel light as a Fill light. I am sure I will use them for many other uses as well. They were a few bucks cheaper here on Amazon than on other sites too!

Good quality product

I think the clamp is fine for use with more lightweight objects, but heavier objects can push the limit of the ball joint's capability to stay in place, especially if it is mounted horizontally. The good thing is that you can separate the mount into two pieces as well.
