Making it Personal
The reason we don't find safety a compelling topic in our workplace is because we have not made it a personal issue and Kevin Burns emphasizes shifting the focus from following rules to making safety a personal value because frankly, our loved ones are counting on us to be with them for as long as possible. A good read.

Great book with great insight on the psychological part of ...
Great book with great insight on the psychological part of safety in which I think is the most important. I am a huge fan of Kevin Burns and what he stands for. I never understood how I was able to take an organization from 15 OSHA recordables in 8 months to 0 in a year in a half until I began reading his book. It all came together and I realized I was doing it naturally. This allows me to evolve as a professional and draw a blueprint on how to improve the next program.

Safety from the HEART
Kevin Burns has a unique gift... captivating his audience through this personal appearances and his publications. Speaking from the heart, guiding the industry on how to lead successfully. Kevin encourages his audience to lead safety at all levels, promoting ownership and buy in a personal level. Kevin makes sense, it's simple, straight forward and real. "What is the key to getting workers to care more deeply about safety?" The goal of safety must involve people, not just numbers. Workers need to believe that safety efforts will benefit them, their families and their fellow workers, not just the company and executive bonuses. Accident reports need to describe how people were affected and focus on how to avoid repeating them. In short, safety needs to appeal to the hearts of the workers. Kevin builds leadership. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a safety professional I have grown to admire, respect and mentor after Kevin.Kevin adds a personal spin to his safety outlook allowing his followers to relate on many different levels. This has a huge impact on guiding others, not just safety professionals... but anyone he touches. Kevin is leading the way within the safety industry and teaching others how to shift safety cultures from toxic to healthy, how to build leaders and promote accountability within organizations. In my opinion Caring is the key component of safety, Kevin continues to emphasis this throughout his communication and teachings. Engaged workers appear to care more than unengaged workers, frontline supervisors have the most influence over safety culture, Kevin touches people at every level building confidence and self esteem. Getting workers truly engaged in safety excellence can be accomplished one step at a time. Caring more for safety comes from being successfully engaged, I highly recommend any of Kevin's publications to safety professionals that have a desire to lead from the heart.

Another engaging and well presented offering from a wonderful speaker and author!
There are so many exceptional concepts presented, both personably and simply, in this book that it should be recommended by companies as reading material to all new, and old, supervisors and managers. Even better...they should be given a copy as a gift.I quite admire Mr. Burns and his natural talent to enlighten and entertain by focusing on, what I also believe is most important in workplace safety, the people themselves. There are many wonderful quotes and ideas that present themselves in “PeopleWork”. One that stuck out for me early on was this...“Safety people and supervisors who lack a healthy dose of willingness to engage crew members on a human level will limit both themselves and their crews.”Simple idea. Simply the truth. We are all equal...safety is not an exception to that.Well done Mr. Burns. Looking forward to more in the future.

Giving workplace safety the 'personal" touch
Peoplework by Kevin Burns is exactly what all frontlne supervisors have been waiting for. Mr Burns takes Workplace Safety from a "bunch of rules": and positions it as a "personal value". He states that it lies in the relationship between frontline employees, their supervisors and the bond between the entire team.Workplace Safety is all about a willingness to get personal!Great ideas and I look forward to sharing this book with our company Safety team.
