Easycel HDMI Audio Exractor extracts the digital audio signal from the HDMI input and converts it to 2 channel analog stereo output or 5.1 channel audio outputs. We posted three methods if you experience no sound from output: 1. Switch EDID Button: Switch the EDID audio switch in the front. Change it among 2CH, 5CH or pass. 2. Turn Off Dolby Digital Plus Toslink(SPDIF) does not support Dolby Digital Plus, you need to turn off Dolby Digital Plus function of the input devices as below: a): Fire TV Stick (Settings - Display Sound - Audio - Dolby Digital Output - Dolby Digital Plus off) b): Apple TV (Settings – Audio Video - Dolby Digital - off ) c): Chromecast (Chromecast plays the contents from your video source, please make sure to turn off the Dolby Digital Plus on the video source through the play devices. ) 3: If you use the HDMI to DVI or HDMI to VGA cable for the video, you may experience no audio out. In this case, please use HDMI to HDMI cable for the video. Note: 1. The SPDIF optical audio output supports all audio formats upto 5.1CH Dolby Digital 5.1CH / AC3 & DTS 5.1CH audio. But not support Dolby Digital Plus and higher formats, such as HD audio (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, PCM5.1 and beyond). 2. NOT support copyright protected content; Astro game headsets. 3. Look Ma, no cables...
I have a Samsung tv with no outputs and just 1 hdmi input. I also have a Samsung soundbar with wireless subwoofer, 2 optical and 1 srereo 3.5mm inputs.I bought a Fire tv stick and was unable to connect the soundbar. The sound from tv is very squeaky and tinny. Bought this hdmi extractor and connect it all up behind the tv so that no cables are visible. I have just 1 power socket on the wall behind the tv.This hdmi extractor works like a charm in 5.1ch mode even with the Dolby Digital Plus turned ON. There is no adverse effect on the picture and the sound is just awesome. I used an unused usb socket on the tv to power the Fire tv stick and an unused usb socket on the soundbar to power the the hdmi extractor. Using short cables and angled connectors improved the look of the whole setup and enabled it to be neatly hidden behind the tv.Good customer service and a fantastic product from the seller.

Perfect for the job
Very simple, plugged a fire stick into the input.. Optical cable and HDMI out, video out to my projector and 5.1 to my old, but very nice surround sound amp.
