It is the reformulated gum starting late last year. The stuff that was discontinued in 2007 was a reformulation also but it did have 'natural and artificial flavor' ; this only has 'artificial flavor'. **Q: I purchased this last year for around $20. What happened to the price. $49.99 is way out of line.** A: You can actually find them at Bartells for $.69 a pack. **Q: What Flavor Is This?** A: Black Licorice! Black Jack was the first flavored gum in the US, and they have just recently re-released it. You can smell the licorice from the minute you receive the package. Lasts longer chew..love licorice. *by B***N on August 20, 2024* Thought to take a star off because it's made in China and the packaging is pretty shabby. It bursts a strong licorice flavor and chews forever... I ball it up and save it to re-chew later as the texture is superior and very unique. The flavor goes down to quite mellow, which I actually prefer and lasts pretty much indefinitely. If you're not freaked out by re-chewing, you get a totally unique experience. I love licorice candies and this satisfies that taste without all the sugar. This was originally made in America and one of the nostalgia series that Beechnut Gum or Wrigley's would re-issue a couple of times a year included with Pepsin, Clove and maybe one other apparently China picked up the patents or rights.
