New Bridges, Book 1: Connecting People through Language and Culture Spiral-bound – January 1, 2013

This is a perfect curriculum for my ESL students. Easy to understand. Easy to use. Good combination of vocabulary, grammar, reading and practice exercises.

Excellent textbook, and spiral binding makes it easy to photocopy.

I have used Books 1-3 in 2 different countries - Haiti and Senegal. I highly recommend the New Bridges Materials. The lessons are well planned and laid out and very teacher friendly - even for those who have never taught English before or have had no previous training in ESL. The Teacher's Resource Packs are filled with helpful items to use and lots of great ideas. I love the emphasis on conversation and the cards to use in the classroom to break up the students into groups so they can start practicing immediately what they are learning. I believe you will be very happy using these materials.

We've used the "New Bridges" books in our language institute since 2007. Love them!The other items in the "New Bridges" series that complement this student book are:* the "Teacher's Edition Book 1" (very user-friendly)* the "Teacher's Resource Pack" (lots of pictures, ideas, games, certificates, handouts, etc.)* the "Conversation Cards Book 1" (great for reviewing each lesson)* the "Game Cards" (which provide good review activities)We give the "Placement and Evaluation Package" to new students to determine which book they should study.

The lessons are creative and very level appropriate. New Bridges has an emphasis on conversational English and creates opportunities for students to talk in the classroom. It is also written with a conservative worldview in mind. All of the illustrations are cute and appropriate for whatever cultural context the students are in. I would use this book again and again! In fact, I plan to!
