Well made, no extra charges, works with landline.
This thing has a lot of features. Really clever features. I like that you can program several different numbers into it to dial one after the other automatically in case there is no answer. I tested it, and it called the number I programmed. When you answer a voice comes on after a few seconds telling you to press a number on your phone to continue the conversation. This way it does not get tripped up by answering machines. If you press the number, you can continue to talk, but if not, it hangs up and dials the next number. There are all kinds of setting for this, all easy to understand. It will even dial 911 automatically depending how you have a switch set in the back. The pendant is very well thought out, and you talk into it just like a phone in case you are laying on the ground and cant get up. It’s not heavy or bulky and comes with a long lanyard. You can even answer incoming calls on it if you are not near a phone and the phone rings. You can tell it well engineered even by the way you plug it in. Very pleased with this. Not sure how far the range is, but it worked all over the house, basement, second floor etc and even outside in the back yard. It’s one of those things you buy someone to ease you mind, and hope they never have to use it.

Quit working after 9 months
WHY I BOUGHT IT:My wife has mild vascular dementia and I am her only care provider and I needed a way for her to call me for help.BEFORE YOU BUY:You need to understand how this Call Alert System works. First it will not work on a cell phone. You have to have a conventional pushbutton phone (mine is cordless) line that is a paid phone line with my phone carrier. AT&T stopped conventional phone cable service to my home. I changed to Consumer Cellular cell phone service, but I still wanted to keep a conventional line. I have a Panasonic answering machine that operates as a base station for 5 cordless phones in my house. The Conventional Phone line has to be connected to a device that can convert the convention phone signal generated when I dial my cordless phone to a cell phone signal and broadcast and receive that signal. Consumer Cellular sold me a "base unit". It is a corded powered device with 3 standard phone line jacks. it converts standard telephone signals to cell phone signals that are transmitted and receieved by my conventional phone. That is a paid phone line service with it's own number. I plug in my conventional phone line to one of the base jacks and that completes that phone line. I plug in the Medical Call Alert phone line to the base unit to set up the Medical Alert Call system as an automatic phone dialer for my home phone. My wife presses her call button and it activates the phone dialer that dials my house phone to the numbers I program. It can program to call up to 4 persons in succession and/or 911 or just call my cell phone. To use this system you have to have a conventional phone that is set up with your carrier as a paid phone line. Then you have to have a cellular base unit it can plug into that will convert the signal to a cell phone signal transmitting and receiving for that conventional phone line. Lastly you have to have a standard phone jack port on the base unit to plug in the Medical Call Alert. Note the base unit signal needs to be able to transmit and receive in 5G.PRO's:1. Very well packed in it's own box and everything is included.2. Clear step by step instructions.3. Not difficult to program4. Does not require a monitoring service.5. Can be programed to call me and 911 or just me or just 911 or up to 4 people in succession.6. Uses recharable batteries that are very easy to change out and provides two batteries so one is always charged.7. Worn as a pendent.CONS:1. Need to be careful to follow step by step instructions exactly.2. Receiving unit pendent is a little large and bulky.3. Alert button can be accidentally activated to call for help if wearer presses against something, like rolling over in bed, or in handling. That's not a big problem, but be aware it can happen.4. Expensive but no other costs after purchase.5. If you want a monitoring service then this system is not for you.*** DEPENDS ON A CONVENTIONAL PHONE LINE SYSTEM AND CAN NOT BE USED BY CELL PHONE. When AT&T stop providing conventional cable telephone service, all I had was a cell phone. I wanted to keep my answering machine and cordless phones, so I contacted my phone carrier and they sold me a "base unit" that I connect to a conventional cordless phone that I use for a house phone. The base unit converts my cordless house phone signal to a cell phone cell phone signal and acts as cell phone transmitter and receiver. I pay only for a single phone line for my house phone.MY RECOMMENDATION:I recently talked with my cell phone service (Consumer Cellular) and they said that cell towers are changing over to 4G/5G and the base unit that transmits and receives cell phone signal for my conventional cordless "house" phone may not work. I bought a new ZTE base station from my phone carrier that is compatible with 4G/5G. Without a a base station converter to change the conventional phone signal from the cordless phone to a cell phone signal, the Call Alert system will not work. It does not work with a cell phone only. The base station converter compatible with 4G/5G sold by my phone carrier, works just fine. No problems with it.However the Call Alert System has not worked since I changed over to 4G. Worked with customer service: my phone carrier, cordless phone service, new ZTE base station. No problems with any of those devices or services Problem is with the Alert System Base. Worked with their customer service who found and varified a problem with the Call Alert Base System It would not receive a signal the customer service rep. sent to it. Authorized return in last month of warranty. Repacked in original box, mailed and insured and returned. Service Senter sent it back in about a week with a note that the pendent case was cracked and that's why it wouldn't work, case replaced and unit "reprogramed to factory original settings." The Call Alert System Base would still not work. The Pendent worked just fine. The same as it did before I mailed in the unit for repair. The problem with the base not receiving the signal sent to it by the company customer service rep. was not addressed. Obviously nothing was done about that. I called and worked with Call Alert support for almost 3 hours, but the rep. could not fix it and never could figure out why it wouldn't work. Problem 1. base wouldn't call my iPhone 6S. That was resolved. 2. I could receive calls on my iPhone, but the emergency message to press 5 to continue the call did not work and the message repeated and then dialed the next number over and over again. Finally got code received by base but wouldn't stop sending the message and kept redialing numbers and I couldn't talk over the message. 3. Tried pressing * and a "long" 5 press. Had to do that twice before II thought message had finally stopped, and the call connected, but it was only delayed a 10 or more seconds. By that time we had ended the support call with nothing resolved. As soon as I hung up tried multiple times but always same result: code "5" was received by the base but the base would not stop sending the message, so connection and call with my phone and the pendent was not possible. I believe the unit may now be out of warranty, so the company has avoided replacing the base which I believe is the problem, assuming a replacement would work at all. I sent email to the customer support I had worked with but there has been no reply. I didn't have problems with this until the 4 G change over. This is an "emergency call until" but it has a lot of problems and it's not just my iPhone. Customer support said almost all phones have some sort of problem with the system and most of the time those can be worked out. Do NOT depend on this until for emergency service. It is fraught with problems, most of which appear to be programing issues. For $300 it is unacceptable. Do not waste your time and money. It may work in the short term, but you will never know until it doesn't. Do not risk your loved one safety, Look for something more reliable. I do NOT recommend this phone.

Piece of mind
Bought this for my 96 year old mother. Easy to program and easy for her to work. Gives my brother and I a piece of mind when I have to leave her for a few hours.

Bad Batteries
We received unit with bad batteries that don't work/hold a charge more than a day at a time. Of course it takes specific batteries, and we called CS and have to send old ones in before they will send new. So our elderly father can't use unit until all that transpires. Not happy spending so much and they can't even provide good batteries!
