Secrets of Skateboarding lets viewers in on the inside knowledge of skateboarding. Hawk and Vallely have an entire section dedicated to "old school" skating, while Lasek joins Hawk in giving away guarded secrets about vert skating. For the advanced and daring, Tony explains how to do the elusive 900.

Tricks that any young person will enjoy
I picked this up for my young grandson who loves skate boarding. A great teaching video for even your youngest of skateboarders to start on. There is plenty to keep you practicing as you grow in the sport.

Tony, Tony, Tony. You got a 60% because you had more to give.
So many trick tips videos I've seen are just for entertainment purposes only. I'd rate most trick tips videos a 1/5 or 2/5. So, Tony's video is good if I was grading on a curve.Skateboarding takes a lot of practice, kids. You will not buy this video and learn to do inverts because you watched that segment 1,000 times. There are a few tips peppered throughout that can help, but for vert, you have to get out on the flat of that ramp, start pumping, get your knee slides down, do some fs and bs kickturns, MASTER THAT, and then start getting fancy schmancy. This video has a very good street segment with Mike V. He is trying hard to help you learn and stay creative so your skateboarding is more fun. But Mike V. would agree; watching a video is a thing you do while sitting down. The best skateboarders are the ones who keep trying and don't waste time chatting about the latest fashion trend or throwing their boards in anger when they don't land stuff. If you want to learn it, watch some slo-mo examples and get analytical. Learning to skate vert will give your skateboarding a new life. NOW GO PRACTICE!

Tony Hawk's Trick Tips Volume 3
Now here's a retro twist on skateboarding instructional videos. A big grab bag of oldskool cool! Street tricks include: ollie grabs, half-cabs, ollie north, late shove-it, ollie finger flip, impossible, boneless, no-comply, pressure flips, street plants, acid drops, and bomb drops. Seeing these tricks again, especially on a modern-day skate video, makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I grew up on this stuff! The take home message: If it's fun, even if it's old, go for it!!!The section with Bucky Lasek is a natural progression from the mini ramp skating we saw in the first two videos. This time the guys are out on a true vert ramp. Vert tricks include: dropping in, frontside airs, backside airs, air to fakie, fakie ollie, half-cab, rock to fakie, rock n' roll, inverts, and frontside tailslides.Extras include: a lunch break with Tony (watch him scarf 6 hotdogs on a stick hehe), a parking lot session with Mike V, and the game of S-K-A-T-E pitting Tony vs. Bucky on the vert ramp. I had fun watching this DVD. I hope they put out at least one more, perhaps one that would focus on some advanced vert tricks like backside and frontside 540's, varials, flips, and maybe even 900's? Wuhahhahahhaha!
