This is a safer tool than a regular box cutter or razor blade! I decided to try this out as my box cutter was getting worn out and I've had one too many close calls. This product has serrated blade which cut box / tape like butter! The handle is nice while not ergonomic, offers a good size to get a decent grip when cutting boxes open. The only gripe with this and any box cutter is the blade will get the gummy residue of tape so you will need to clean it off as it gets sticky. Overall this is a great product and safer option compared to a box cutter.

First - Do NOT buy the smooth blade Blue Handle Cutter. It just does NOT cut anything. Smooth Blade is dulled for safety and can't cut packing tape or cardboard. Only use - scraping gum off shoe. Waste. Handle Color specific for blade type. However... The rest are serrated are definite Amazing 5 plus PROS: 1. Workplace safe (no box cutter blades risks). No more work injury utility blade cuts. 2. Very effective - fast at cutting packing tape, cardboard, and air pillows. 3. Relative inexpensive at $7-8 considering how long they last - 2 years of daily use and still going 4. Cuts a wide range of material packing tape, cardboard, and those Air Pillows !!! 5. Cutting the box contents accidentially is next to zero (compared to a knife blade) - but someone is going to prove me wrong by stabbing and gouging when only light pressure is needed to work :). CONS: 1. I know its a few more cents but I would pay for a dedicated Plastic Cap. Hint Hint Canary. The non-stick is a preference thing but the additional cost is marginal. It does work as keeping the tape glue from sticking but we are just as content with regular uncoated stainless steel. Lastly, yes...if you try hard enough, you can break skin with the microserrations but we have not have any accidental cuts after our office using these for over 2 years. One of the few "Dam...these are Fantastic" products. And no we did not get these free/discount for this review. Just an honest business purchase review. Enjoy.

OMG! This thing works better than I would have imaged. Highly skeptical, but not no more. Easily opens Amazon boxes and is much safer too

These things are awesome. I’ve had this one for a while now and it’s opened countless boxes and letters and still looks and cuts like new. It absolutely beats using scissors or a knife in speed and agility. Plus you pretty much eliminate the risk of cutting the contents of a package with it unlike a knife. Perfectly sized to fit in your hand and hold onto without feeling cumbersome or too small. Cheap enough to have several around the house too. Japanese quality and simplicity at its finest.

If you get packages delivered to your house often then this is the tool for you! Canary makes good knives, and these are no exception. I would say this gives you a more precise cut, because the serrated edges sink in material and help it guide the tool along tape. I standard utility knife is a bit unpredictable and dangerous compared to this. I got the short, red bladed one because it may have a stout, stable build, but canary makes longer yellow handled version as well! You got a high-quality Japanese made tool here for a small price! Excellent product and safe to use

It’s great to handle, works great but you’re left with tape residue on the blade and a flimsy plastic cover rather than a nice cheap hard cap. Those are secondary misses but I still like using this thing.

Perfect! I work in grocery stocking sometimes and one of my own tools. Always wanted one of these and it's as good as I thought it would be! The best, strong, cuts just enough but not too much so you don't easily damage items inside the box. I wouldn't be without this! I use it at home to open Amazon packages as well. And it's good for cutting cardboard to get into display boxes, opening all kinds of boxes, bags of chips, shrink-wrapped cheese and thick plastic, this is really ideal.

Brilliant little tool extremely sharp
