A limited amount of good info, much harmful/useless advice
The text is very repetitive and contains several instances of bad information. The author's chart on which foods contain the most fibre (p.56) includes with nuts. Yes they do have a lot of fibre and are now being touted as 'super foods.' Unfortunately, nuts are something that people with diverticulosis should avoid as they tend to clog up the diverticuli. On page 62, he says that "if you feel a diverticulitis flare-up is starting, it may be sensible to reduce the amount of fibre you are consuming…" Actually, it would be better to switch to all soluble fiber, as less likely to irritate the colon, while keeping one's digestive process encouraged to continue working. The author says (p. 58-59) that "people with DD need to increase the amount of fibre in their diet by 50-100 percent," but never gives a daily fibre amount to work toward.

Don't waste your money on this!
This cheap little book is not worth your time or money. You can get more and better info free on the internet. Your doctor will probably give you better pamphlets free. Shame on Amazon for even stocking this crap.

Helpful!
Read this book before I had a Colon Resection. Having had colon problems for 50 + years there wasn't much I didn't know about my colon. This book had a few tips. Am glad I read it before surgery.

Great reference
I bought this book shortly after I was diagnosed. Because i am a young person (diagnosed at 31), diverticulitis is not something that any of my peers knew anything about. This is a great reference book and is very easy to understand. This is a book that you will read through and then read again as the need arises.

coping with diverticulitis
Although it gave lots of information on how and to whom it could happen and possible future occurrences to some people, it was not what I required I would have preferred information on how to treat this condition as there is so much conflicting information on what to eat or not. All say fiber but not a lot else the only thing I have found useful so far is Peppermint tea and Peppermint oil addedWell written and full of information but not for anyone new to this condition.

The Book itself is good and explains your diagnosis
The Book itself is good and explains your diagnosis. However, I feel that if you are looking for suggestions and help regarding food consumption and any triggers that can influence your every day life and flare ups of pain .. no light at the end of the tunnel reading this book.

Valuable book for sufferers
Good book; useful; reassuring; clearly written by an expert; packed full of good advice; includes a chapter on diet. Well worth having on the shelf not least as insurance in case your condition worsens as there is good practical help and guidance on any next steps if treatment is required.

OK, But needs more info
Quite informative as to the condition and (some) treatment but no info or even links to relevant info on how to put together a diet; nor any food suggestions or recipes. So OK as a first step, but honestly nothing that can’t be found on the web and disappointing as it simply doesn’t go far enough.
