Works Great With the proper grind
Reading most of these reviews many seem to have some good points, so.. hopefully i can sum them all up and include pictures!1) First, for refrence my 4 cup Mr Coffee maker is a Model BL5.2) the Basket i got was 2 in Tall and 3.5in diameter3) you can see in the pictures that the basket DIES have about .25in of space all around it when in use and it uas a sid bottom. This is so the coffee will actually be able to get OUT of the filter. (The paper ones have the folds away from the walls that let the coffee escape) the bottom is likely solid so you get a bit more steep time when brewing since the mesh lets fluid through faster then paper and it give the small filter some rigidity.3) yes.. there is a LITTLE bit of sediments at the bottom. When i first tried this i used the normal grind i would for paper, almost half way between drip and espresso. That grind left a noticeable amount of sludge! So the next time i used the actual Drip setting.. that made the size of the grounds perfect for this and as you can see in the photo there was almost just a smear of particulate in the bottom. I actually didnt even have to TRY to not pour it in my cup because the shape of my carafe stopped it.4) i would NOT use this if you have a blade coffee grinder (and i would upgrade your griner to a mill grinder you own one of those! ;) ) blade grinders do not provide uniform grain size and you WILL get more sediment reguardless of grind just by using that device.5) washing this filter out is very easy, i knock the grings into my compost and then run it under runnin water and it gets 99% of it out in one try. You COULD dunk the filter in water upside down and shake it arround to clean it, but i think that is a waste of water.6) i am actually goin to begin makin my grind smaller so i can replicate the flavor of a french press since i can controll just how much parriculate gets by and see how that goes.So in conclusion, if you grind the right size, this super cheap filter is a great way to go. :)

Coffee seems to have trouble getting through due to design...
I used white paper basket filters and my Black & Decker 5-cup brewing machine (temporary use until my Bonavita arrives for Christmas) brewed pretty decent coffee. When I used this permanent filter the coffee was watery, flat and borderline tasteless. I can only assume that there "may" be some truth to other reviewers expressing that the way the basket is designed is flawed compared with others on the market. The coffee doesn't seem to release properly it seems. When I cleaned out the basket, it wasn't like other gold foil type permanent baskets I've used. This was really caked in there and not as wet as normal as if the water ran over it or past it and not through it.My Bonavita brewer is in-house now so I don't need to use this basket. I will likely try using it another time and will update my review if I do so.

Great filter for Mr. Coffee coffee maker
I wanted the ability to have multiple coffee filters for my Mr. Coffee coffee machine. This works great as I can place the coffee in there beforehand and plop it in to go later.Cleaning these filters is straightforward. I find if you let it dry out and harden you can just dump the grinds into the garbage can and just wash the small remains out in the sink. Or if you prefer to wash it out with wet grounds just note that more will probably have to get washed out in the sink.Mesh is small so grounds are not going to be escaping through this. I've never used paper filters but I think given how long this has lasted me, this is a way more cost effective method of making coffee.

Fits Mr. Coffee Coffee-Latte pot perfectly
I bought this to use with my recently purchased Mr. Coffee Coffee Latte. I decided to do so rather than use the paper filters. I can't say that the paper filters wouldn't have worked equally well but at least I don't have to concern myself with keeping a supply of paper filters now. This basket fit perfectly into the Mr. Coffee pot. I feel that the quality of the coffee is just fine. I would recommend this.

Solid reusable filter
I first bought this filter about three years ago. I used it for those three years and it held up great. I recently moved and purchased another one to go with my new coffeemaker. I like that it's reusable, meaning I don't have to buy or use disposable filters. I was initially worried about the mesh popping out, but I've never had an issue with that. I've noticed this does tend to make my last cup of coffee a bit "siltier" than disposable coffee filters. I think this is probably characteristic of most disposable filters. It doesn't bother me or my roommates, but I could see how it might bother others.Cleaning it is a bit annoying, as the grounds like to stay in the filter when being rinsed. It's also a bit tough to get all the grounds into my trash - a bunch end up going down the drain, which I imagine isn't great for the plumbing. That said I used this daily for three years and never had my sink clog up (we didn't have a disposal) so it can't be that bad.Overall I think this is a good reusable filter and I'd recommend trying it out.

Okay, but still lets some particulates through
This filter is not your end filter. I have used this for coarse grinds for cold brews and auto drips. It is okay for quick and dirty filtering (literally), however, it does let some particulates through. I still use it a first step in filtering cold brews and then pass it through a paper filter to get the rest, otherwise I end up with black sludge in my cold brews :(. For auto drips, this will produce a weaker cup of coffee than paper filters since the pores are larger which results in less brewing time and you are more likely to find particulates in your coffee. Overall it is okay for a first filter for 2-3 step filtering process, but I would not use this filter by itself.

this evaluation written by a possible sort-of coffee expert
I own a Chemex (the one that looks like a nun when it has both coffee and filter), two Melitta cones (one-serving thingies that make a cup at a time, handy for those who want different coffees), a large French press and a smaller one (because my doctor suggested I drink less coffee), three ibrik (in different sizes), for making those teensie cups of coffee that make you faster than a speeding locomotive and able to jump over tall buildings with a single bound, and a 20-ounce automated Mr Coffee. (I used to have a Cory, too, but it broke.) I also used to have a 20-ounce Mr Coffee that WASN'T automated, for which I bought a mesh basket similar to this one. Of course the old mesh basket doesn't fit the new Mr Coffee, so I ordered this, hoping never again to have to search for UNBLEACHED 4-CUP Mr Coffee filters (which I suspect exist only in theory). Of all these, my favorite is the faster than a locomotive kind, with the French press second, but I read that that filtered is the healthiest, so usually . . .Amazon's description isn't specific about the mesh, but it looks to me very like the one that didn't fit, which reliable sources alleged to be actual gold. If you prefer to pick up a bleached paper filter and dump it in the garbage, give this a skip; but if you put the grounds in your plants or don't mind washing the filter, it's the only way to go.

Fits 4 cup Mr. Coffee
Fits my Mr. Coffee 4 cup maker perfectly. I ordered this because the paper filters were folding under the water and letting grounds into the pot. I tried this filter with the grounds directly in it, but it was almost impossible to clean without running water and sending the grounds down the disposal. I use a paper filter inside and cleanup is super fast and easy. Plus, I'm not eating grounds accidentally anymore!

Has a solid plastic bottom with a fairly high lip.
The bottom is all plastic with a fairly high lip. The other filters that I have bought had mesh all the way with plastic cross bars for stability. This plastic bottom causes not all the coffee to drip through. What rises past this lip is a very diluted coffee. You can easily test this by "brewing" just water. You will see water stagnate at the bottom of the filter.

A perfect fit!
Once again Amazon found something that I couldn’t find anywhere else. This 4-cup permanent coffee filter replaces the one that came with my coffee maker that’s 6 or 7 years old. I use it every day. I couldn’t always find paper filters and my old permanent filter broke. Amazon had them! A perfect replacement.

Does the job!
I bought a Mr Coffee that did not have a filter (which I thought it did) so I've been using paper ones. Glad to have this and does the job but not sure how to keep it from discoloring a bit but that is a minor point.

Works great with Mr. Coffee DRX5
I bought this along with a Mr Coffee DRX5 4 - cup coffee maker for my husband for Christmas. He's been using it for about 5 months now and hasn't had any problems. It cleans easily enough and we haven't had to buy any paper filters. I like having a simple, green, and cost effective way to make coffee. My husband likes the coffee he makes with it, and surprisingly hasn't complained once about cleaning the filter along with his coffee pot.
