Learn Clip Studio Paint: Create impressive comics and Manga art in world-class graphics software

Not worth it at all. You will have better luck troubleshooting online with YouTube, clip’s user’s manual, and other resources. I was very disappointed that this “textbook” reads more like list of features and completely ignores practical learning methods. Where are the reviews/quizzes on important concepts? No downloadable files to walk through? Not to mention a lot of the information appears to either be outdated or poorly worded. The screenshots have no indicators of what the instructions are pointing to. This is embarrassing work and will probably scare any people away from the program. Save your money until an edition that actually attends to the psychology of learning comes out.

A very well written and organized book. The book presents the software and explains what it is designed to accomplish and begins explaining in detail how to set up the workspace. Then the various types of tools are presented and explained, concentrating on the basics of use. The book is designed to provide instruction from the root basic skills and then, as you become more comfortable with the software, more in depth information is presented. I opted for the digital version of the book, so I can touch the pictures and they'll automatically enlarge to show details being presented. The book introduces keyboard shortcuts early on and it's been a really convenient skill that has made using the software so much more productive and easy. The author has gone to great effort to present the various topics in an easy to follow format that isn't confusing and lends itself to a very intuitive experience. The book assumes no prior experience in digital art software but doesn't bore the reader either. Within about fifteen minutes of reading the book, I was using the software and my drawing tablet, putting the information I was learning to use. I was very surprised and happy to see how quickly I was making progress in my learning. The author has created a really useful book that has inspired me to practice every chance I get and as I progress through the chapters, I'm amazed at how effective the lessons are.In closing, I can recommend this book without reservation. The best investment you can make in yourself is in your education and this book is money well spent. As this is the only book I've seen for Clip Studio Paint, I'm glad that it's such a good book, you really don't need anything else. The author has my sincere thanks and appreciation for providing such a superior resource for learning how to use this truly awesome software.

This is a detailed manual for users who want to make comics. It doesn't teach you how to make them, rather, it gives you a very detailed walkthrough of the software's tools.

Fairly comprehensive, but I was hoping for a more practical use for the book. Good for covering functional use.

I bought the kindle version because I had a question about speech bubbles and I couldn’t find the answer without buying the book.I am pleased to admit, I’ve returned to this book so many times to explode new features and my productivity has gone through the roof!

Needs a “simple set up” section to get up and running with minimum time investment.

Made it simple to learn what I needed.

As a beginner to Clip Studio Paint (ex), it has been useful to have a reference book (explains the terms), however, a lot has changed since this book was published (2014!! so wish I had checked!) and, as a result, some features are not even available anymore or have changed into a completely different configuration, so it is very confusing to use the book.A lot of the theory is there and majority of functions are the same but when half of the stuff has migrated to different parts of the program (and some not there anymore), it's very labour intensive to figure out what they are talking about. So, as such, I would not recommend it -you will get more up-to-date, helpful advice on YT videos.
