Inconsistent Audience Targeting
I found this book to be very basic in places, but then it assumes to much in other places. Organization is poor, and the English is marginal; it doesn't look like anyone proof-read it. Mostly, you can figure it out, but there were a few places that I had no idea what the author means. That said, I did get some useful information from it, and the author clearly knows what he is doing, but he has some difficulty conveying it to a beginner in this book. All of the information in this book is easily found on line from various sources, and pretty much all of the example code as well. There appears to be a shortage of good books on the 8266. Now that I have learned a great deal more about the subject, I would recommend that you consider using the ESP-32 development boards for all by the simplest projects. They are far more powerful for just a few dollars more, and there are better sources of information about that platform.

Good solid beginner book
Good solid book, overview of Esp models is helpful to pick the right hardware for your project. Software / code examples are good.Docking one star for typos, even in the cover !! Can't that author spell internet ??Also, took forever to find SLD and SLC Pinouts. It's in an example, but not the pin out diagram. But overall a good book to get you started.

A bit garbled, but just what I was looking for
Although the English in this book feels translated at times and i had to guess what the attempt at grammar is trying to say, I still found the information I was hoping to acquire. The examples and demos where pretty good and very practical.

Issues essentially resolved, excellent and clear book on topic. Look forward to his next book
I would have liked to have kept this book, but on some of the pages the text was occluded by illustrations. Without being able to read all the text, the book lost all value to me.*********************RevisionThe Author has been most responsive in the repair of the problems that made the book unusable to me. I can now use it as it was intended. It is extremely well written, informative, and well worth the read and study. Unlike most other books in this area, the author does not spend half the book writing about setup, but rather gets into the meat of the Guide very quickly. While there are still some minor issues that remain to be resolved, I found that the most serious of these seem to be an Amazon problem. I have two differing versions of Fire Kindles, and they did not present the same problems, or they were present in a different manner. The author is quite capable in this field, but more importantly is most responsible and responsive to issues that have come up.

Google Translate does not a book make!
Sure, you can sort of read it, most of the time. I've said it before - tech books don't work when the author can't speak the language . I could copy and paste a few examples but why?Maybe you'll be fine trying to muddle your way through this. The problem is NOT that the author can't speak English. The problem is the author meant can't but wrote can. The problem is the book says something close, but close doesn't work in technical books. Then, all too often, someone writes a few reviews praising the book. Whether it's the author doing a little fluffing or others trying to help promote the book, who can say? The result is a book that borders on useless and a set of reviews bordering on lies. This title isn't the worst, but read the first chapter before you plop down your hard earned money. There's a lot of free info - in English - about the ESP8266 on the web.

Some good things
I chose two stars because although there is some useful information in the book, it is poorly written and barely understandable. In places, it merely copies directly from other documents, including sales jargon, without references. The book spends little time explaining the details of NodeMCU programming and entirely too much time going over basics that lend little insight into the working examples. I mean, how many times do most of us require an explanation of what an LED is and how it works? There are some errors in the wiring pictures, e.g. showing both ends of a POT connected to the same rail on a breadboard when it should be connected across the rails, etc.On the positive side, the projects are interesting, progressive in difficulty, and illustrative of some techniques that I was curious about.

Needs editing
Many of the fritzing diagrams are just plain wrong. Severe grammar issues. Needs a general editing cleanup.

Good technical info, but needs an editor's help
I just received this book from Amazon today.Although the book has some decent techincal information, I am finding it rather difficult to read, due to the over-abundance of grammatical and spelling errors, and unclear phrasing and sentence structure. It is obvious that the author's mother tongue is not English. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but, if an author not completely fluent in the English language writes a book in English - especially a technical book that is meant to educate, such an author would do well to engage the services of a natively English-speaking professional editor, to ensure correctness in grammar and spelling, and to recommend changes in phrasing and sentence structure to make the meaning more clear to the reader. As well, this book lacks an alphabetical index at the back. Any technical book like this one should always have such an index, so that readers can more easily reference any specific topic, without having to guess where the topic might be located in the book from just the table of contents. On a more positive note, I heartily applaud and thank the author for supporting STEM education for underprivileged children. According to the book's front matter, proceeds from the sale of the book are "spent on educating students"; presumably STEM education for those underprivileged kids mentioned earlier. Way to go, Mr. Magesh! And thank you.

really interesting to start with nodemcu modules
I think that this book could be very interesting for people that desire to start in using a nodemcu module (ESP8266 modules) using the arduino ide. This means that this book is a good choice for novice or as introduction to the world of ESP8266. It could be usefull too for fast starting in iot and for technicians/engineers that don't want spent time learning complex tool or system to develop a simple link to a PC (by wifi) or internet resource. One apreciated thing is that inside the book there is a nodemcu api for lua list with explaination.

Broken English to the point of making no sense
I'm amazed that a book can be published with so many grammar mistakes. Even though the technical side was interesting, I couldn't continue interpreting the text as it is. I don't recommend this book until it's reviewed and published properly.
