Sharp Dehumidifier

Was looking for a dehumidifier for a while. This is what I needed and fits the description perfectly. It's very efficient at dehumidification. I live in a high humidy area where humidity is in the range of 80-90%. I can maintain the humidity at around 50-60%. Running it for about 12 hours fills the tank 3 times minimum. The house isn't damp anymore. Finally to my relief, no mold growth. The air purification function is also excellent with cigarette smoke in the house which get eliminated within 2-3 minutes. Well, the price is steep but it's worth every rupee. Sharp as usual is one of the leaders in electronic household products and there is no doubt the dehumidifier screams quality. Be assured and just by it. Been using it for 2 months now. The only issue I had was that the packaging was not good and was open when I received it. Otherwise, it's working great.

Good functionality as both dehumidification and air purification in one go. I have used it in my basement and belive me now its awesome. Earlier it too damp in there and even books or office papers went a little damp. No such issues now. The air feels light and clean. The lone air purification mode is silent. I little noisy with dehumidification due to action of condensor evaporator unit. Keep in mind does tend to give out a litle hot air on dehumidification, which could be a problem in summers. But for my basement its perdect since by default its plenty cool all around. On the whole a good product by sharp. Very elegent to look at and easy to use. I bought this to take care of excess humidity more than the purification part. This takes care of humidity, odour etc. in addition to purification and that makes it much more useful that a standalone air purifier. The plasma cluster improves it's air purification ability and is patented (I'm not sure of it's actual benefits; but will update the review as I use it more). Since it isn't a powerful dehumidifier it takes a bit of time to bring down humidity. And since it isn't an air conditioner you would end up with a bit higher temperature inside the room when it's operating (the laundry drying mode might tone it up a notch). Also noticed the odour light turns up after a while and then I can smell something too (but there wasn't anything in the room in the first place; wierd). An air conditioner does a faster job at dehumidification without increasing ambient temperature, but then it takes up more energy and sometimes you don't really want to feel colder (if you air conditioner is advanced, you may not actually need one of this). My air conditioner drys out the room too much; so the Dehumidifier feels better to me during monsoon and keeps the room feeling fresh. It fills out after running it for sometime in a day (depends on how humid your place is) and if it's too humid you can even just use continuous draining by running a pipe outside (like an air conditioner). Registered warranty by emailing Sharp and the regional sales engineer explained all the functionality and servicing requirement. (The manual says filters are good for 5, but engineer said it depends on environment and maintenance too and mostly it would last around 2 years for most. The carbon filter would last a bit more). Maintenance is just doing a light vaccum (don't use a powerful vaccum machine on the filters) outside. Outside because the HEPA filter traps stuff you can't see, so just wear a mask and do it outside. He is also advised to keep the room closed like how you would do with an air conditioned room. Also keep the water container dry if you aren't use it for a while to prevent that getting mold. Provide enough space all around and keep this in shade (no direct sunlight) and don't point the air vents or stand near this for a long time with plasma cluster on. As with lot of other customers orders, my purifier was also covered in some sort of black dust (thought it might be toner powder as Sharp also deals with MFD and this must have been unsold inventory that was just there in warehouse for a long time). A wipe take cares of it. Be vary of Sharps service network as they are not as wide as it's competitors. It is highly discounted at Amazon and the street prices are much higher. After couple of years when it's time to replace the filters you are going to be in for a surprise (costs around 6k or more to replace both of them). Call Sharp and they will send an engineer to replace it or you can buy online (if you can find it; I just saw two sellers in Amazon). But there isn't much price difference; it's expensive. Feels like how it was with home printers when it came out. You get a printer for cheap but the toner/ink cartridge refills are expensive and company makes money off it. I might just use it as a dehumidifier once the filter is bad.

Seemed like the product was not stored properly at the godown and remained neglected for a long time. The item was dusty all over. Also the packaging was damaged at places. Nobody had bothered to inspect the item before despatch. Fortunately the product itself was not damaged. Using for the last two days. Works exactly as described. Using it mostly to dehumidy and in the laundry mode. A large amount of water is collected in the machine in a few hours. Heats up the room by about 3-4 degrees in the dehumidifier mode. Relative Humidity in the room came down from 83% to a comfortable 60% in about 3 hours. Odour and humidity sensors work accurately. Easy operation. Good quality plastics used. Did not get the acknowledgement for the sms sent (as advised in the warranty form) to register the product.

This device has the functionality of Deodorize, Dehumidify, Laundry and Air purifying. I basically purchased this to dehumidify my room, and this device turned out to be the perfect job doers, It brought down the humidity level from 78 to 61 in approx 1.5 hrs and collected 350ml of moist in the water tank. Airpurifying mode is also a eye catcher feature which will make you feel and inhale the fresh air. It consumes nominal power of 190watts, making it a power efficient, It has many features such as timer, swinging, fan speed control, child lock and many more.

The dehumidifier is working fine. It collects around 3 ltr. Water in every 6 hours. My room was very humid (90%+). After using this dehumidifier it decreases to 65% which is normal. Reviewing this after using 1 week. Only the con is you can't set to the desired rh level. But definitely it decrease the humidity of your room. Go for it without any hesitation. I bought it for 19749/- check the price when you will buy it. Much better price than other brand dehumidifier.

I disliked the fact that there were too many damages. I am not sure if a new object like this can contain so many damages. I will return it back. I received the second delivery. It seemed like someone had already checked the inside: the tape and everything was removed but the product was fine. It works really well.

In my extensive search for something which has DeHumidification, Ionizer, Hepa filter, activated carbon this checks all the boxes, though having smart functions / IOT to access from phone would have been a nice addition but since for Bangalore I may not need it much as I plan to use only during rainy season if humidity increases too much for just few hours or days. Odor sensor and laundry drying are nice features. On the cons, The unit was manufactured in 2018 and came with full of some black or dust inside the packaging and also the unit seem to have suffered some transport impact where the bottom plastic plate had changed color in places as shown in the picture to show the impact of damage. Also there were bruises on the front, but since the unit worked perfectly didn't opt for replacement, so reducing one star for these issues. Otherwise product worked without any issues and could see the water condensation happening in the copper coils.
