More than Just A Smoke Detector
I needed a replacement smoke detector for my kitchen. I liked the fact that this was also a carbon monoxide detector also. It came on time and is very sturdy and appears to be well made. I hung it in the kitchen testing it. I have not had any smoke in the kitchen to test it yet, but I will update the next time I burn supper!

Sadly, the low star reviews seem to be correct on this one!
The unit looks good and operates like the one pictured, however the other reviews are correct:1) The instructions that come with it do not entirely match, including that the back-plate does not twist off.2) The battery that comes with it is non-alkaline and close to its expiration date. If you install this detector, you should plan on installing a replacement Alkaline battery right out of the gate.3) Which leads me to the date of manufacture. Smoke detectors expire after 10 years, (has to do with the sensors themselves). Because of this, a date of manufacture is printed somewhere on the unit. Detectors with no pre-printed date are deemed to already be greater than 10 years old and in need of replacement. The unit I received has no Date of Manufacture, leading me to believe it must already be expired. Needless to say, since we are relying on this to warn in the unlikely event of emergency, this was a complete waste of money for me as I will be replacing it immediately. I guess this is a situation where we get what we pay for.

Works well.
Works well. My stove/oven gives off carbon monoxide everytime I use it. Which I understand is normal. My unit will beep and display ppm which is usually between 50-54 ppm.

NOT what was advertised!
Unfortunately, I ordered these awhile ago and just got around to opening so I can’t return them.I ordered two and I’m not sure either was new - one was in a plastic bag (in the box) but had some scratches on it and the other wasn’t in a plastic bag!The display on our previous unit ALWAYS shows the carbon monoxide reading, which is what this APPEARS it will do from the photos and box description. However, it does NOT do that - the screen is just dark with no number (readout) so I have no idea if there might be a super low level in our home! Can’t honestly rate ease of installation rate or battery life because we won’t be using these! (Amazon should make “N/A” available as a choice.)The fit of the battery cover is very flimsy and feels like it could fall off.I wish I had opened these sooner as I definitely would have returned them.

Feels cheap, false alarm already
Still not sure about this item. Bought two in order to replace an overly sensitive smoke detector and combine it to consolidate a CO/carbon monoxide detector. Something about it - size, design, who knows.. feels a little cheap. One of them just randomly went off while my wife was sleeping, said CO level of 59 ppm. Then immediately reset itself when I approached it. The other one of this model around the corner and my singular CO detector didn't go off and there was no reason for it. That never happened again, but a false positive worries me that I could face a false negative just as easily.Update: Have had one unit beep and provide a co number well below the threshold the instructions state it will beep after. Wife thought it was batteries and replaced them with new. Two days later same thing. Can't trust these

Would think twice about these
So far work as advertised, but some of the things I've noticed about them indicate they are poorly made. The installation instructions that came with them apparently we're for some other model since the way it said to install was completely wrong. The batteries that came with them were dead after two months, hopefully because they were junk. Two of the four beeped when batteries needed replacing and the other two went into alarm when batteries went bad. No confidence in manufacturer!
