Plugable USB MicroSD Card Reader for Phone, Laptop, and Tablet Computers (Built-in Type A USB and Micro-B OTG Connectors)

Not sure if I have a defective unit.. because it will not plug into some phones with micro USB. It plugs in my Samsung Galaxy S3, and Nexus 7. It plugged into a friends Nexus 5. It absolutely would not plug into a Samsung Note 3, or Galaxy S5. Perhaps the tolerances on the connector are off by just enough that it will fit some, but not all. Am going to contact seller to see about exchanging it. On the plug side, when it plugs in, it works great. I was able to format the micro SD card with FAT32 or exFAT and it works all the same (provided your phone OS supports exFAT, not all do). I plugged it into my computer at home and it worked in a USB 3.0 port, o it is definitely backward compatible. Of course it also worked in a regular USB 2.0 port.Update - A few days after this review, I was contacted by Pluggable. They offered to help me diagnose my problems, but quickly determined that I had a defective unit. A replacement was sent to me via Priority Mail. The new one now plugs into every phone that the original one would not. I must admit that I didn't expect this kind of support for such an inexpensive item. Thanks Pluggable!Technical note. I tested this card reader with a 64GB uSD card. When I plug it in to a phone or computer, it will "look" like it is working. I see a 64G card installed, however, when copying files, I started to get errors as I got to the 32G mark. The product is not marketed as supporting anything over 32GB, so I was not expecting it to do this. Just reporting my experience.

Day one of having this thing. Seems to do its job nicely, but I found a pretty glaring problem...I accidentally put my MicroSD in the wrong side of the USB part and I nearly lost it. I couldn't get the card out without doing some minor damage to both the product and my SD card. They both seem to work, fortunately, so it's just cosmetic damage...Aside from that, it was a bit more difficult than the usual to get the thing in and out of a USB port, and the blue LED light on it is pretty bright, enough to be pretty irritating to me at least.So, so far it works, but it has some kinks, and if you screw up it can be risky.

I really like this little device.Pros:It has a cap for the USB end to protect the housing and memory card placed in that end. It works well when I’m taking pictures with my camera and I don’t have a card reader, just pop in the 64GB Micro SD card into the USB end and connect to my laptops and I have just what I need. Works well when transferring files to my phone or someone else's.Cons:There is no cap to protect the other end of the USB drive that you use with phones and tablets.

Works Great. A little tough getting the tiny SD Card out of the slot but great other than that. i had to buy a second one because of my own stupidity and blindness. I stuck a 64GB card into the wrong side of the USB slot. And FRIED IT. I had to tear up the unit to get it out. I won't make that mistake again. This thing is really handy. I attached it to my LG G2 Smartphone and it does the OTG file transfer very fast.

I got confused and thought it was USB 3.0. No! It's not! Because all USB 3.0 jacks are backward compatible with 2.0, this'll work in either kind of slot, but beware, this is USB 2.0, which is 10 times slower than 3.0.

Outstanding purchase! I would highly recommend this to anyone managing multiple smartphones (as dad does in our family) it makes music and video transfers from pc to phone a breeze! I don't know if it's true for all hardware but I used a 64 gigabyte in this and the phones read EVERY SECTOR OF THE DRIVE!SO, at least for Samsung phones, the 32 gig limit on the card size, doesn't seem to apply!

Be careful how you insert micro sd card. If you insert it into side opposite the micro sd side the card will move to the middle of the reader. I tried to carefully remove the card and damaged the reader. Update: the seller of this card reader went out of their way to resolve my issue. They gave me a new replacement reader. Kudos Plugable.

Great product. Has a very good clear look to it and has saved me tons on flash drives because I can just use my SD cards. Recommend to anyone looking for a flash drive (as long as you have a SD card) and recommend to anyone looking for not so practical (useful for string pictures or music and looking/listening at home) expandable storage on phones that don't have SD card slots.

Fantastic, small, compact and sturdy gadget, my HTC One M7 recognised it straight away with no issues. Great ability to connect straight into my PC USB without having to remove the Micro SD, open as folder and dragged 30 gig of music to it, unplugged and put the cap back on and then inserted into my phone using the micro USB end, easy, very easy.This is great for my HTC as it has no internal MIcro SD option so this is perfect to take most of my music with me on holiday.Great service as well, ordered Friday dinner time and delivered Saturday dinner, very, very fast.tj

This was bought to extend the memory capabilities of my NEXUS 7 to store GPS details and PDF locations of the many Public Rights of Way in my area. It has met my requirements completely. Not that I had any reservations about purchasing as I have several other Plugable devices. Unlike many other periphery manufacturers Plugable have an after sales support service second to none and have always responded with a solution when the need arose. I had no hesitation in the five star rating given and would recommend this as a very good buy.

So pleased with this device I have a 32GB Nexus Table and needed a little extra storage space. Well this product allows me to have just that - I have placed a32GM micro SD card inside this unit and now I have doubled my storage capacity! Just wish it came with a little case or key ring clip so that I do not worry about it getting lost.

It does what you expect it to, what else can you say.

Such a simple idea that works perfect only bought it to save switching memory cards between my action cams and my tablet and to save uploading footage to my laptop
