DON'T NEED 4KUHD!!
aS THIS IS MY OVERALL VIEW OF THE FORMAT - 4KUHD & I know that many other people who like/love 4KUHD will disagree with my view of the format, when you have great looking titles like this one then you don't NEED 4KUHD!!I know that this is the way BD has chosen for the present & near future but I'm not going to update my hardware & go for 4KUHD when you can buy discs remastered in 4K.Now I'll give you my review of Zombie Flesh Eaters, Zombie, first of all this is the best Blu-ray disc of 2018! Blue Underground have done a great job remastering this film in 4K, THE A/V is awesome as you're right there in the film itself, example - the opening sequence of the zombie being shot is coming out of my big TV you are almost with the actors in the film. Also you can see & hear everything of the New York dock & harbour as it's that great, the rest of the film is the same & Blue Underground have done a marvellous job here - well done. Also BU have have provided a lot of bonus content here with most of the special features on disc 2, a third disc which is the soundtrack & Blue Underground have have served you up a great BD, top marks all round from me - 5 stars!Best Blu-Ray disc of 2018 & you don't need 4KUHD, THIS IS AS GREAT ANY OLD MOVIE SHOULD LOOK SO WHY WOULD YOU SHOW MORE OF THIS & ANY OTHER Film in 4KUHD?? I don't want to see what's behind the curtain!! The whole point of making feature films is that you don't see the illusion, with 4KUHD you will! That's why I'll never buy 4KUHD!

Excellent! blue underground does it again..4K restoration it is.
I checked it and compared it to the other zombie blu ray from blue underground that was made a few years back. I have to say without a doubt ...The new one is far more superior. First the sound is crystal clear with 7.1 DTS-HD....and you definitely hear it crisp. My god, so clear those notes of that classic soundtrack. Then let's go to the picture, First let me say both blu rays have grain in it and that's ok. I definitely want the old grindhouse look..I don't expect this to look like it was made today...but i do expect a better picture. And yes sir, it delivers. You can see it when compared side by side. The new one has crisp colors and brighter whites..a more detailed background compared to an almost blurry one in the older version. So yes this really is something to behold. Now i can't wait to see what they do for the "Maniac". This new Zombie bluray contains 3 discs...that's because the original soundtrack is included and a whole mess of extras. Love the booklet included with a history of zombie and it origins. A couple of things i noticed...The menu is different and way better { motion menu with clips from the film} also when the movie starts the title credits look brand new...like someone redid it all over again. It's still a black background with white credits...but just bolder fonts...Guess because the original looked so plain with those gothic fonts. Weird.

Classic Zombie movie entry, worthy of revisiting (Minor spoiler alert)
I saw this movie for the first time in 1994. Back then I had a VHS copy with intolerable video and audio quality. That combined with my at the time "none too large" appreciation of italian splatter movies kept me from seeing the quality of this film. I guess what I expected was a zombie flick up the alley of fans of Romero's Dead trilogy (yes, to me it's still a trilogy and I've been a HUGE fan since my early teens). However, there is no social commentary to be found in this movie, and some of the performances aren't exactly spot-on.SPOILER WARNING: what also put me off, was the "diving"zombie, fighting a shark. I still think in context it is quite laughable and inconsistent, as it requires movement coordination and to me zombies have to be slow and clumsy unless a food source comes along, just as they move in this film apart from this particular scene.Over the years I looked past the aforementioned "deficiencies" and concentrated on the movies qualities. And once I've heard of this newly remastered edition, I had to revisit the sun-washed (and blood-drenched) beaches of Matool island. And I wasn't disappointed this time around: the V & A quality is simply jaw dropping (considering the age and the modest budget of this picture) and once you come to terms with the differences between american and italian horror cinema this movie rocks!!! I will go as far as to say: concerning makeup FX, this beats the blue smurf zombies in Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" any day (which I always found a little too artificial looking, apart from that the movie is excellent, though. I deeply admire the body of work of Tom Savini, but the blue zombies in Dawn were not his finest hour)! So, if you're into zombie movies and can look past the minor niggles described here, then you won't be disappointed! Revisiting this movie also led me to purchase "City of the living dead" and "The Beyond", so I definitely have developed the "acquired" taste for Fulci movies. If I could, I'd gladly give it 4.5 out of 5 stars!P.S.: by watching the discs extras I learned how the shark scene was shot. Apparently, they used a real tiger shark, which was fed and tranqulized beforehand to calm it down, but the shots were all real, a zombie actor in the water, wrestling a shark...The scene before the shark/zombie encounter was shot in shark infested waters, they simply waited for a shark to come along, let it circle the boat a couple of times to tire itself and then threw the actress in the ocean.Truly guerilla film making and also unthinkable to shoot a scene like this the same way nowadays... Overall one has to admire this director's (and even more so, the actress's) audacity! They don't make 'em like this anymore, folks!

Great 4K Restoration
The film looks fantastic with the new 4K scan from Bill Lustig's Blue Underground company. If you are a fan of this film, it is well worth the double dip from the previous Blu-rays and DVD releases. The special features are ported over to this collection along with a CD soundtrack of the film. Very cool booklet that comes with this package also. Well done Blue Underground. Truly one of Fulci's best films that will stick in your brain way after you see it.
