I give this stencil 2 stars because they stick and they block paint, and then not very well at that. That’s the ONLY thing this sheet currently does. It took me an hour to apply 2 square inches of stencils…it took me two weeks, almost every evening, to apply two pages of these scales to my climbing helmet…and then I ran out of one set of scales at the end and had to improvise. First off: the stencil does not come off in a single sheet: it is 7”x11” page of individual cells that are roughly 1/2”x3/8”, and then to make matters even more complicated, the cells are not even the same size or shape, and, it seems they are over-cut, as every cell has a small tag of stencil that has to be removed, this resulted in wasted material and running short at the end. And no matter how tightly you place the cells next to each other, paint slips between the stencils. I spent several evenings just cleaning up the lines with a plastic razor blade and denatured alcohol on a q-tip. I don’t regret buying, but it was definitely a labor of love, and what tends to happen with projects that overrun, I lost the joy in the job and it just ended, not with a sigh of excited satisfaction, but of relief.

Great product! Just takes time and patience. Took about 6 hours to do the complete bow, front and back. There are 2 sizes of scales, long and short. As long as you orient them right it works just fine! Just keep in mind it’s going to take a while, and it won’t be perfect. Each one has to be set and spaced individually. I tried transfer tape with no luck, might’ve got the wrong tape for it though.
