Much more solid than we thought they would be. One of thewooden connectors was missing, so we cut one of the remaining ones in half, which seemed to work.To assemble, simply place the supplied paper template on the wall, poke holes with a screw or whatever, then drill holes.We purchased some wall anchors (about $2) for extra support, so we pushed those into the holes by hand,then screwed in the connectors. At that point, all you do is slide the shelves onto the connectors.Once you do it, you will be amazed at just how easy it is and will fly through a second instal if you purchase more than one.We're happy with the unit. I used two together and they have to line up perfectly to look right. The template is pretty accurate, but you have to drill 10 holes (each shelf unit) perfectly for everything to match up. Plus you have to slide the vertical piece down over two wooden clips without scratching the wall in order to get the horizontal shelves in place. I ended up fudging things a bit, but it's sturdy and looks good.
