Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone [Blu-ray] (Region Free)

I received this quickly and it was exactly as described. I needed this to complete my set of the movies. Very satisfied.

This is great and works beautifully

Its been while since Harry Potter films graced the movie theaters, but I just had to write something in praise of these masterpieces, especially the first two movies. These remained probably the most faithful to the excellent books of all the movies, and I thinkall the films were excellent. Dumbledore was most faithfully played by Richard Harris, who unfortunately passed away before theseries got even half way through. His successor was OK but weak compared with Harris. But the wittiness of the characters suchas Herminine and Ron and the brilliant special effects kept the series strong especially later on when they became darker. I willwrite about the other movies later. I only objected to the title which in England was called Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone instead of the Sorcerers Stone.I guess Warner Bros figured people in the US would not know what a Philosophers Stone was. Some minor changes in the storydid not alter the main story sequence from the book, which were brilliantly written by J. K. Rowling. She never talked down to thereader even though the books were supposedly written for children. The text is sophisticated and detailed and very descriptive.And I loved the train; I have a passion for steam locomotives and though the British ones look kind of odd without the cow catcheron the front, I will still take a dozen. Beautiful photography and scenery enhanced the visuals. And flawless special effects.If you haven't seen the films or read the books, I strongly recommend them if you like charming, funny, some sophistication andjust good story telling; these are not fairy tales yet are top notch fantasy movies. I got all of the movies from AMAZON as wellas the books. I give this book five stars. And little Harry, Ron and Herminine are so cute!

Some how misplaced my original movie. This will be a timeless classic. A great family film.

Now, about this first film in the series: I expected to see something exceptional, fascinating, enchanting, and heart-warming -- after having read the book -- and my anticipation of what I thought I would see was blown away by a magnificent work of movie-making. This past week, I have watched both the full screen and wide screen versions while knitting caps and scarves for friends who are fans of a local American football team. Most enjoyable, I would say, is to hear the wonderful voices of the different actors.

I love the Harry Potter series so owning them all was important. Also important would be the quality of the dvd itself so that I could watch it more than once and it would survive the test of time. This dvd was very good and easy to watch.

I love this movie, and so happy for this product! When HP and the SS first came out on DVD, I spent way too much money on the cardboard, fold-out case with bonus discs and plastic inserts that came unglued and made the discs pop out. When my children finally, definitively destroyed both the case and the disc, it was time for a replacement. How happy it made me to find this very inexpensive, simplified presentation of this movie. It's a plastic case, when you open it, there is one simple disc that contains the movie. That's it! That's all I need! I may have to replace my Chamber of Secrets DVD as well.

If you're an adult looking for another way to enjoy this movie, find and mp3 of Wizard People, Dear Reader, download it, and play it while watching this movie on mute. It is HILARIOUS. It's a full-length narration, similar to RiffTrax. You can find the mp3s online. It's got some adult language, but it totally extends the life of the movie.Yes, he does it in a weird voice. But it is so funny you'll get past the voice quickly and your face will HURT with laughter.

Pour les fans de la série, le premier film, "Harry Potter à l'école des Sorciers" reste le plus magique de tous. Le film, très, très fidèle au roman, commence le jour des onze ans d'Harry. En même temps que le petit garçon lui-même, on y découvre petit à petit ses aptitudes très particulières et sa famille d'adoption grotesque et détestable, avant de plonger dans le monde de la magie. Pour la première fois on visite le Chemin de Traverse, autrement dit le marché des sorciers et sorcières puis le quai 9 3/4 et son train en partance pour Poudlard, la fameuse école des Sorciers. Avec Harry nous allons y découvrir tous les personnages principaux et entrer dans un univers poétique et fabuleux porté à l'écran avec....magie, bien sûr!

En tant que Potterhead, ce coffret ultimate est absolument génial !La version longue est sympa, dommage que certaines scènes coupées n'étaient pas présentes dans la version cinéma.Très belles images dans le livret, bonus inédits dans les bluray qui nous apprend beaucoup sur la réalisation de la saga !Les petites cartes à collectionner sont un +, parfaites pour un fan mais assez inutiles dans le cas contraire.Rien à redire à part qu'il est dommage que cette édition ultimate ne soit disponible en français que pour les films 1 et 2 ...
